A story with a good ending

So often the educational system fails children in need of special services. However this is a story where the system actually worked for one particular child. I friend of mine has a son, who had had a history of significant behavioral issues secondary to a diagnosis of ADHD for most of his life. Throughout his childhood, the child was at risk for a juvenile delinquency. He failed in school, was extremely obstinate to all of those in authority, and was constantly in trouble. When the child reached adolescence, he was sent to first, a military school. That didn't work. Then they sent him to boarding school which promoted an extreme religious dogma. That didn't work either. Finally, at their wits end, the Palm Beach County public schools placed him in an alternative education setting here in Palm Beach. The school offers a lower stress environment with no homework, extremely individualized teaching, and small classroom size. This child, at the age of 15 is absolutely flourishing

in this environment. He is able to learn at his own pace, and even has friends for the first time in his life. This is a true success story

Thanks for sharing a happy ending or rather a positive beginning!
