Guest guest
If Zoloft is covered by insurance Cortef should be? If you need Cortef and you have a practitioner who will prescribe it, it will help you to function better. There are ways to cut supplement costs. For example, buy ascorbic acid and magnesium citrate powder in bulk. Or use pharmaceutical grade epsom salts for magnesium. Make yogurt for probiotics. There are probably other tricks that other members of the group have. It isn't necessary to always buy the most expensive supplements. You need to look after yourself first so that you can care for everyone else (learned that lesson the hard way too). Well, here is one, I like to have on hand: I get Activated charcoal form StarWest Botanicles, for pennies to the dollar compared to what it costs in a bottle. In bulk, form a health food stroe is better than bottled as well.... Thanks, Inga > > There are ways to cut supplement costs. For example, buy ascorbic > acid and magnesium citrate powder in bulk. My daughter has had intolerances to dairy and we use a lot of probiotics. I am not sure how much yogart we would have to eat to compare. We use epsom salts from wal-mart and I buy the largest can of Natural Calm I can buy. Vitamin C is pretty cheap. With all the protcals in our family everything is adding up. My son and daughters DMPS and my cortef are the biggies. I am not using the script that the practitioner wrote for ALA. I am using Kirkman brand and dividing it up because it is less expensive. Every little bit helps. For our daughter with PDD she uses enzymes from Enzymedica (Candidase and Digest Gold) and she is taking a lot of carnatine and folic acid. We use Kirkman CLO. Do you know of a safe brand that is more economical? The kids are also on Kirkman's multi-vitamin and mineral which is synthetic but the price isn't too bad. Epicor from VRP is expensive but it has been soo helpful for my daughter and our practitioner recommends to only use that brand of epicor. I am always contemplating price versus value. > You need to look after yourself first so that you can care for > everyone else (learned that lesson the hard way too). > > J yes, I do. I think what is eatting at me is that I want to get my amalgams removed and I am having to spend 3,000.00 to keep my basement dry. It's a bad situation were having to dig down to the foundation and seal it up on top of tearing out moldey drywall. My daugther goes to Kindergarten next year and I really would like to be able to send her to private. One day at a time. Thanks for listening. I know what you mean. I had to " experiment " with my dosage of HC to realize that I needed it. I am much better with it than without it. You may not have had the right dosage, and that's what was leading to the irritability and anger. Not sure, but I suggest you ask the practitioner about the symptoms. You could also ask if there is a different diagnosis code that might let it be covered by insurance. > I have been working hard on my kids protocal and mine fell apart. It is worth a try, but if cortef worked before, it may be what you need. > Would it just be easier to go back on zoloft since it is covered under > insurance? > > Melinda I would not dismiss the cortef since it is what was working for you most recently. Zoloft is another option you can discuss with your practitioner. --
Guest guest
> ???? > If it will not cover the cortef am I still better off on it than the > zoloft? > > Zoloft is a standard psychotropic that will " treat " depression. But if the depression is being caused by some underlying physical problem, then using psychotropics will only mask the problem. I have been on over a dozen different psychotropics and none of them have actually solved the problem, they only buy you some time in quasi-normal mode. Most practitioners who prescribe psychotropics believe that depression is its own disease state and not a symptom of another problem. AFAIK, Cortef is used to treat a physical problem which can be causing depression as a symptom, so if it lifts your depression it is probably a much better solution than masking it. However, my interpretation of what Andy says in AI is that if using a standard psychotropic will aid you while you work on the underlying physical problems, then go for it. So, if your current situation is overwhelming even when taking the Cortef, you may want to consider taking the Zoloft (or another psychotropic) in addition to the Cortef, for a little while.
