I'm afraid I didn't understand what the > problem with cashews is... can anyone explain it? That's my understanding of nuts, too - not sulfury except peanuts. Peanuts/peanut butter are also bad for candida, as are some others like pistachios. I find walnuts aggravate dysbiosis, too, but this may be individual. Many nuts can be allergens, so probably best to stick with ones you are sure you tolerate. I tolerate cashews okay, but some folks won't. I'm not aware why they might be a problem other than allergen. > Dumb question - what do sulfur-avoiding folks do for salad dressing? > I've always used ranch or other creamy dressing, and can't stand a > traditional Italian dressing. I've made " almonnaise " (a mayo substitute made with almonds) - I think this can be used as a base for salad dressing. > Right now I feel really awful. Really, really awful. Kicking coffee is hard, but worth it. > bad for the adrenals, so I decided to just bite the bullet and go > through the withdrawal. You would not think that just one cup (ok, > 14oz mug) of coffee per day could cause this much trouble. I'm sorry you are going through this, but it will be over soon and your adrenals will thank you. If you get overly tempted, tea will be a little easier on your adrenals (my opinion) and low-sulfur as well. I opt for green tea which is even lower in caffeine. --
Guest guest
> So I'm finally starting the sulfur foods exclusion trial. > Right now I feel really awful. Really, really awful. But I expect > that is the caffeine withdrawal. Well, today I stopped my sulfur exclusion trial. I realize it was only 4 days but every day I felt worse than the day before. My nasty headache turned feral, the nausea got really bad, the fatigue was constant, and my pain got worse. I have a very high pain level to begin with, so there isn't much room for worsening before it becomes debilitating. So this morning I decided to stop excluding sulfur but to continue with the caffeine and sugar exclusion, on the grounds that excluding both of those is generally good for the adrenals. My thinking was that once I get well past the withdrawal and am back to " normal " I can re-try the sulfur exclusion without the complication of withdrawal symptoms. Now it's 3 meals later and I have to say, I feel much better. Much more like my normal self. The pain is back down to normal levels, the nausea is gone, the fatigue is more in it's normal pattern and the headache is almost gone - and it's back to feeling like a caffeine withdrawal headache instead of an imminently-exploding-head headache. So now I'm not sure what to think. Is this sufficient to conclude that I'm one of those that needs sulfur? Or do I really need to re-try after the caffeine/sugar withdrawal is completely over? My hair test shows that I'm a fast metabolizer, so I should do better on a high fat diet, which is consistent with what my " natural " diet is. But on the sulfur exclusion, I couldn't get much fat without milk and butter. So, has my distress the last few days been from lack of sulfur or lack of fat?
