If you do not have Med Waiver you can get 10 hours of Respite through ARC monthly. When I have utilized these hours in the past, the personnel has always been terrific and you can have the same person each month. They try to match your child with the right trained and experienced person. Same with Broward Children's Center, you will get 120 hours/year respite, as long as you're not on the Medwaiver. We have mostly been happy with the caregivers there, and have had the same one for the last six years who is a treasure! To:

I have respite but they can't always come on short notice plus they won't take

him outside. I tried care. Com and found two people but one moved before she

even started and the other one was

Telling me how to raise my child... Not good. I need actual people reccomended

please. I understand know one wants to give up a good sitter but I just need

them from time to time.

Sara, unfortunately, Broward Children's Center respite is for Broward County residents only. Why don't you check with the ARC in Volusia http://www.arcvolusia.org/ and see if they offer similar services...if not, ask them why not?

Hi ,

I just spoke to someone at the Volusia county ARC, and they said they don't offer any services (including respite) for individuals under 18. I asked her why not, and she responded they brought the subject 'a while back', but nothing ever came of it, and they haven't addressed it ever since. My question is, how can a county not have any services for disabled children 18 and younger?

Easter Seals in Volusia doesn't have anything for my boys ages (10 and 11), besides 's Gift, which is a free babysitting service at Easter Seals, one Saturday a month for a couple of hours.
