Guest guest
IS ALA metabolised in the same pathways as DMSA? (sorry - I am studying the liver pathways but it's not sinking in as yet!!!)In other words if I need to take the DMSA more frequently does this mean I need to do the same with the ALA? If this is the case I guess taking them both every two hours would be the best solution?

ALA primarily takes mercury out throught the feces whereas DMSA primarily takes mercury out through the urine. I would expect ALA half life in an individual to be more influenced by liver function and DMSA half life to be more influenced by kidney function, but not absolutely with either. > (sorry - I am studying the liver pathways but it's not sinking in as > yet!!!)In other words if I need to take the DMSA more frequently does > this mean I need to do the same with the ALA? > Probably. The best way to know would be to experiment with different timings while holding the doses constant. > If this is the case I guess taking them both every two hours would be > the best solution? > Once you get to that point you could try every 3 h, every 2.5 h, every 2 h and see how you feel. When I started ALA, I found 3 hours caused problems and I backed it down to 2 hours. I seem to be fine with that frequency. --

When I was not sleeping, I did 2 hour intervals because I felt my metabolism was not slowing down at night. --
