Guest guest
Your son's test doesn't meet the counting rules. The test looks fairly normal, but supplementation can make a hair test appear more normal. Since the test looks fairly normal, I would believe the lowish levels of molybdenum and iodine. Dark circles under the eyes often go with phenol intolerance. Giving some molybdenum could help. And epsom salt baths could be great for him. Iodine is needed to make thyroid hormone. I would try giving him an iodine supplement, such as kelp. Selenium is not as low, but is recommended for mercury toxic people, can help to suppress thyroid antibodies, and helps with T4 to T3 conversion. He would not do well with tyrosine or phenylalanine (which is in aspartame). Those should be avoided. > > My son was born just under 3 years before I became sick - he is > nearly six now. Hormone tests have confirmed he is hypothyroid, and It is worth noting that serum thyroid tests reflect a recent time frame while hair tests show what is happening on average over the past 3 months. His K/Ca is at the top of its range. Na/K is not bad, but toward the hyperthyroid end. Sounds like his dose is okay, or perhaps on the high side. > his adrenals are very weak. His main problem is slurry speech (due > to the high aluminium?), for which he is having speech therapy. I > have Andy's hair analysis book, and according to that he doesn't meet > any counting rules, but I think he MUST be affected by the mercury. A trial of chelation should answer the question. I would use DMSA because of the lead fairly high in green, and add ALA after he is on a comfortable DMSA dose. > He gets more tired than I think is normal for a five year old, is > very skinny, has poor immunity - always coming down with chest > infections - poor digestion, and has dark rings under his eyes. I don't know how many, but you'll find lots of parents to compare notes with here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism-Mercury/ > He currently takes > 3/4 grain Armour > 1 multivit / mineral > cod liver oil > probiotics For immune function issues, I would make sure he is getting plenty of zinc and vitamin C. The autism-mercury list has a supplement file with children's dosing recommendations. I believe zinc should be weight + 20 mg for kids, in divided doses. Make sure he is getting enough vitamin A - very important for immunity. CLO will not give enough and the multivit is probably not enough for his needs either. Also consider natural antivirals like elderberry extract, echinacea, lysine, olive leaf extract, astragalus, etc. > I want to keep him off HC, but may have to consider other forms of > adrenal support.
