Guest guest
I think Leach has made an excellent appointed School Board Member and if I lived in District 3 I would not hesitate to vote for her. I would also like to add: As I posted previously, in District 4 Mayersohn has an ESE son in a Broward County Public School. As past Chair of the ESE Advisory Council and a member of numerous Committee's and Council's. " gets " ESE and would make an excellent addition to the School Board. District 4 has six candidates in the field, so need all the support he can get. If wins this seat he will be the only Board member with a significantly disabled child on the Board. In District 8 (Countywide seat) Donna Korn's main opposition is lin Sands. lin is a nice guy, former minority leader of the Florida House of Representatives, well connected, but in my opinion out of touch with Broward education, and certainly not as well versed as Mrs. Korn. Donna Korn, like Leach, was appointed to the Board and in my opinion has done a good job so far and would represent our children's needs and interests better than Mr. Sands. In District 9 (Countywide seat) Robin Bartleman has been an outstanding advocate for the ESE community. Robin's entire professional career seems to have involved Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities. Robin is also the ONLY School Board Member that attended, up until last year, almost every ESE Advisory Council meeting. The ESE Advisory Council only see's the rest of the Board around election time. I am not familiar with any of the candidates from District 5 so I can't offer any real suggestions there. I can say that I have met with every one of the candidates above and worked closely with several of them. In their capacity as Board Members they all have made themselves available to discuss issues, have represented my concerns accurately in Board meetings, and voted accordingly. I recommend the above, and whether you agree with me or not, VOTE. Thank you, Steve Moyer > > Dear Listmembers, > > Good News! Guest guest
I want to add my endorsement/accolades for . I have known her since she taught one of the Autism/ESE classes at Sawgrass Springs Middle School many, many years ago. Besides being a wonderfully supportive, awesome person to all [my daughter was in another class with another fantastic teacher], she ran the Special Olympics program there. went on to become an Autism Specialist for the middle and high schools. She was also in charge of the Special Needs Program at Coral Springs Kamp Kool at least one summer. 's mom, btw, was also a Special Ed teacher. loves our kids; she is definitely one who "gets it!" I was very excited when was appointed to the School Board, and hope that she is elected. It is very, very helpful and important to have allies who understand and are approachable on the School Board. For that reason, everyone should spread the word to support and Bob Mayersohn for election - and get out & vote! Meryl Sherris  Dear Listmembers, Good News!
