hi kristy

they said that she used to be a gynecologist but changed to oncology which I thought sounded odd, I will call her nurse again monday to see what it is she does specifically. She is no longer practicing in the gynecology division and they asked me if I wanted her number in oncology

Did they tell you that this doctor was a gynecologic oncologist?

If yes, that means that she deals with gynecologic cancers such

as vulvar and cervical cancer. But gynecologic oncologists can

also deal with difficult to treat cases that regular gyns may

not see enough of.

Carol,

It wouldn't sound strange if she's a gynecologic oncologist

which is a subspecialty of gynecology.

Regular Oncology is different. Ask them which Oncology they

mean because it makes a difference. Gyencologic Oncology may

fall under the Oncology Division of the place she affiliates

with.

You can also find out by going to the website of the hospital

she has privileges at what exactly her specialty is as far as

Oncology.

Kristy :)
