Guest guest
Dolores, I live a bit upstate NY - 100 miles noth of the city and i travel down do NYC - Dr. Clifton Gooch at Columbia-Pres. I know of no Dr's in the Albany area and neither does my local neuro who specializes in PLS. For the 1 or 2x year visits, it might be worth it for your friend to go there. Guest guest
, Every, so it is not always the amount of creatinine, but also the numbers of the chemicals like potassium, phosphorus, sodium, calcium that count. My creatinine was over 5 before I started on dialysis. But my numbers went up on the chemicals.. I started dialysis not quite 2 years ago. How is your husband feeling? Is he getting a lot of swelling in his legs and feet and abdomen? His nephrologist should know when it is time for him to start. About 3 weeks after starting, I felt so much better that I wished I had started sooner. This might also be a good time for your husband to consider looking into a transplant. _____ From: blind-diabetics [mailto:blind-diabetics ] On Behalf Of Sent: Tuesday, June 05, 2012 6:33 AM To: blind-diabetics Subject: Help needed Hi everyone, have a few questions and hope you will help Joe my husband and I out. Steadily over the last 6 months which is 3 times getting blood work done for our Kidney Doctor Joe's Creatin has really been going up. When Joe saw the Doctor in May his level was 3.8, yesterday he went for blood work and had done a 24 urine collection and the nurse called and said the creatin was 4.2. Joe's appointment is June 13th, and on June 11th doctor wants him to get another blood test done. Our question is what level is to the point dialysis is needed. Doctor did tell Joe his total kidney function was 20 percent. To us that is pretty low and something should be done. So if someone can help out we would appreciate it. Thanks, and Joe
