Guest guest
Well that's pretty discouraging. People should email Tyra that she should have addressed it. Guest guest
Yeah I was super disappointed. Guest guest
National television is never going to be completely ready for an open topic on subjects like Vulvodynia and Endometriosis even though need to be had. Guest guest
The show wasn't ditzy and dumb, it was actually very good and I learned a lot from the show although they didn't talk about vulvar issues like we had hoped. At least the show of Oprah in 1999 openly mentioned vulvodynia which caused her to get totally embarrassed (understandable because most people, especially women don't like to talk about their genital area and the things that can go wrong with it). I was proud of Tyra for saying what her mom did to help her learn that that area is just another part of the body that can have things go wrong with it just like the eyes, breasts, etc. Kristy __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Yeah, I wonder if one of us should have posted an online question at her website. She seemed to be answering some of those on the show. I agree--I thought it was extremely surface level. But on the bright side, at least she's talking about female health issues. That's an open door that was pretty much closed even 5-10 years ago! Becky __________________________________________________

Guest guest
I'm disappointed to hear this, but I'm also angry. Thjey can have commercials all over the TV about men's erectile dysfunction, take some viagra, Cialis, or the topical male enhancement commercial with the wood planks in it... But we never get a chance to voice OUR issues. This has GOT to change. Don't just feel sad about this...get good and mad and voice your opinions because if women had been able to voice our problem none of us would be this frustrated with ob/gyns, and general ignorance...people need to be educationed so our pain isn't some big joke to the men of the world. Sorry, but nothing's going to happen if we don't get it out there. Guest guest
Let's not only contact Tyra's show. Let's contact Oprah, Ellen, Jay Leno, Montel, Ablow (so they can find out it's not all in our heads), Today, Good morning America, The VIEW, there have to be dozens more out there I haven't mentioned (I know not the best time with the writer's strike) but hey, those producers are looking for good show ideas and if they get a boatload of letters from women who say, " We're just not going to sit and be quiet, good little girls anymore " maybe they'll have to listen. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I think national television is more than ready to discuss vulvodynia, as evidenced by " Private Practice, " and a host of other shows that talk about these types of things (Loveline, Sex Talk with Sue Johanson, etc). It's ridiculous the NVA put something out saying they were talking about it, when obviously the vulvodynia stuff ended up on the cutting room floor. It's not like Tyra is live, is it? So the show was taped weeks in advanced. I am going to express my disappointment to NVA. I also highly suggest we all e-mail Dr. Mehmet Oz of Oprah & Friends radio show fame: http://www2.oprah.com/xm/xm_landing.jhtml to ask him questions about vulvodynia. He is always asking for e- mails for questions and seems to be more than happy to tackle difficult topics. I am also going to send an e-mail to the local holistic doctors that have a newspaper column every Sunday in my local paper to see if they will address it, too. Don't forget to use www.goodsearch.com to help raise money for NVA, too. I agree Lu, Seriously...the more people that know about this, the better. Lindsey > > Let's not only contact Tyra's show. Guest guest
Thank you, Lindsey! I actually did contact Ellen, Oprah, Montel and Ablow just before these posts about Tyra. It was hard to get anything throught to Leno, I gave up on him...for the moment. I tod them my teary-eyed tale and that I wanted to raise awareness. I've heard nothing back. We need numbers gals. I challenege every member here to contact at least one show, Newspaper, radio show, whatever you feel the most comfy with. Please, let's do this. Not even just for us, but for all those women out there who don't even know what's wrong with them...down there. The Vagina Monologues are having auditions at my school and I'm going to try out. We'll see how that goes. That would be a great mouthpiece! Guest guest
VENTING.... What burnt me up the most was the Professional Panel of 3 WOMEN and not one of them even mentioned the terms VULVODYNIA or VESTIBULODYNIA!!!! What about the Medical Community doing it's part and EDUCATING women in general about VULVO-VAGINAL health, which includes, PROBLEMS and CONDITIONS that are up DOWN THERE? I kept waiting for one of those women (2 ob-gyns and 1 Sex Professor) to at least MENTION VULVAR PAIN! How nice to prance around on stage with your happy little velvet vulvar puppet...looks like they need to make an UNHAPPY Vulvar puppet, too! You know all know what I mean, one that has FLAMES shooting out of it!!! While I appreciate Tyra being willing to tackle a subject that many seem to RUN from... I think we should all send comments or 'feedback' to her show asking them to do a PART 2...and this time tackle VULVAR PAIN! Hang in there Ladies...Hugs, Chelle
