Do you find it also affects your sense of taste? There are times when I will swear to my hubby that the milk has spoiled or that some food has a harsh metallic whang to it. It never dawned on me that this could be connected to the HE.

Yes! There are times when I crave a certain food, however, once it hits the tastebuds I have to spit it out it tastes so bad! It's very annoying, to say the least. I have learned not to throw away food in the fridge until someone else determines that it's bad, otherwise I'll be throwing money down the garbage disposal. I'm so glad that and Steve stay one night a week now, they are my bill paying and food police. They help keep me on track. Now, if I can just break Burt from pooping on my floor! :-)
