,

Go ahead and vent all you can because you are the

caretaker and have to be able to hold this together.

I had CC and I was treated at the Mayo by Dr. Gores.

I know how stressful this all is and how you are

trying to find a way to get it all done and get it

done the right way. If it wasn't for my husband taking

care of all the details,

Dr's. tests, insurance, children, just to name a few,

I don't think I would have had the strength to fight

this disease and cancer. We did the same thing with

doctors and trying to get tests done, going from one

herpetologist to another. We found one who recognized

the symptoms and did a PET scan and sent it to Dr.

Gores. That's where we finally got on the right

track. I would also have to say that my husband fought

and stressed out hard on the insurance because we were

out of network also and they wouldn't give us a

referral, so we went to the Mayo without a referral

and my husband fought long and hard and after my

surgery and numerous phone calls and doctors letters,

he got them to pay the majority of the bills.

If you just take one thing at a time and focus on

that, everything else will follow suit. The most

important thing is getting diagnosed, and

hopefully this is just a false alarm, but if it isn't

you can then focus on treatment.

If you have anyone who offers to help, take it. My

Mother and oldest daughter helped out with my care as

far as getting me to eat and taking my meds and

keeping my spirits up. They also helped by keeping

the house clean and kids fed and got them to school.

That helped my husband out so he had the strength to

fight the insurance and make decisions on my care. He

was very aggressive and called the doctors all the

time. No matter what time is was and how often. I

was in so much pain and slept most of the time that I

didn't even know what was going on.

Take advantage of any support system you can get and

ask questions, the more you know about everything the

better off you are in making good decisions.

If I can help you with any questions, just let me

know. It can be overwhelming at times but be strong

and fight hard.
