How much T3, how long have you been on it and how long on that dose??

What about temperature, was it high?

What about cortisol and ferritin?

Hi Nick,Yesterday, I took 35 mcg of T3.  I'm currently on 30 mg of HC and my ferritin levels are good, according to a couple of people on this group.I've taken 15 mcg of T3 thus far today, and I feel weak and exhausted.  My eyelids also feel very heavy and my vision is blurry.  I'm also having a hard time enunciating words - feels like my lips and tongue are too big for my mouth.  I can also feel my heart pumping in my chest, although it is suttle. I also have really bad acid reflux that is causing me to cough.

I will start to track my temps today. I was using a broken thermometer and I wasn't aware of it.  I just got a digital one from Walgreens.  Thanks for the help.Mike

Hi Kathleen,Thanks for the encouragement.  It is difficult not to give up when I feel worse than before I started this whole thing.  However, I'm not a quitter, so I'll try and get through it.  I did have an appt with Val and it wasn't that productive.  It was probably due to me though because when we talked, I was not feeling that good at all.  So, I wasn't in a good mind set to ask her the appropriate questions, and I don't think she really knew what to say.  I may have to do it again next week.

Thanks again for the encouragement.Mike

Mike,

Don't give up! I know that feeling. I have given myself this year to get straightened out or throw in the towel. I'm glad I am staying the course. I finally feel I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel regarding how I feel physically.

What you are feeling from taking the t3 is classic inability to handle t3 due to ??? Could be low ferritin, low cortisol, etc. Having panic attacks from taking t3 is more adrenal I think, especially as you said your ferritin is good.

I think you said you have an appointment with Val. Have your labs on hand; she will help you sort this out!

Also, for what it's worth, I had to completely stop t3 a few times and start all over as I couldn't tolerate it or would end up having to take very high doses of HC, which didn't seem right to me. (I'm talking like 50 or more HC a day.)

After addressing a viral infection I had, I was able to go back on t3 with normal doses of HC and am up to 105 mcg now. Woo hoo! I also had to change how I dosed it. I was trying to take tiny amounts every 2 hours, which wasn't working at all. Sometimes you have to play with how you dose, but in your case, with taking only a half dose today and such a strong reaction, it seems to point more toward intolerance for whatever reason.

I know you are under a lot of stress with the DP and so forth. I don't know if you have other possible issues, like unknown infecions or so forth that could be also creating adrenal stress. It may be your adrenals need help the most right now and you will have to stop t3 for just a bit until you get them in order and then try again. Ask Val about that, too.

Kathleen (who is only into May of the " year I gave myself to get this straightened out. " )

I've had to start over again, too, a couple times when things went badly. I

think if things get really whacked, particularly adrenals, people sometimes need

to start over or REALLY lower the dose down to give the adrenals a chance to

recover.

BTW, Mike, did Val say that you needed more HC or that your iron was low?

she bumped me up to 40 mg of HC.  She also had me cut my cytomel in half to give my adrenals a rest.  So, I just need to wait a few weeks then start the increase in cytomel again.  Thanks again for your emails.Mike
