Guest guest
>would it stand to reason that upping the carbs so as not to be in ketosis and cleansing the liver to unblock toxins released from the die-off would help rather than going on T3? This is all provided the person does not hav low ferritin or cortisol. The problem is it seems that RT3 can go out of control and become self perpetuating.. In a healthy individual there is RT3 there at a reasonable ratio and it forms a secondary regulator for thyroid activity, almost like a safety valve. I suspect one of the things which stops people suffering too badly from hyper thyroid if they have Graves is that the excess T4 from the out of control thyroid turns into RT3. Once the RT3 has been excessive for a while the receptors become blocked. There is not enough published research out there to know what it takes to clear receptors but the symptoms we get following the T3 protocol that Val has helped so many people here with are that the receptors clear long after the serum levels of RT3 are unmeasurably low. Other methods of " improving the ratio " such as playing with the ratio of the T3 and T4 that you take and improving ferritin, cortisol etc improve this ratio but don't take RT3 to near zero. We don't know whether receptors will clear if the ratio is improved like that We do know that receptors clear (suddenly and dramatically) after 11 to 13 weeks on T3 only. Because we don't know the answers we can only offer what we know works, other things might but they are unproven. There are a lot of things that would be nice to know, we don't know the options that are there, we just know one way that works Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
Guest guest
I'm not sure about this, but I think Milk Thistle can deplete ferritin/iron.S To: RT3_T3 Sent: Tue, May 11, 2010 3:24:03 PMSubject: Re: Toxic Metals and RT3 / liver Stopping low-calorie dieting should help RT3; I don't know if milk thistle would or not. It probably depends partly on the cause; if the RT3 is caused by low ferritin, for example, I don't see how milk thistle would affect that.> > > > >> > >I have high RT3, which I thought was brought on mostly by dieting and my low ferritin.
