Guest guest
Hey there - Hope it goes well tonight! I was so worried about that first night, and my son did way better than I did! You are right, it will get quickly better for both of you. We were out at dinner tonight and someone saw us and said, " Oh we had one of those - Dr. , right? " We are not by ourselves in this! I think the reason we had to go back to RHS for frequent adjustments was because he has been growing SO fast. He was fitted in his helmet the week he turned 5 months old, and he is 8 1/2 months old now. He has an area that is bossing out on the side opposite from his plagiocephaly area and it would press against one of the ventialtion holes in particular. They have had to thin that area out several times for us. Other times it had made red marks that would last more than 20 minutes or so. They have often been able to get us in on the same day that I call. The last time we saw Dr. he ballparked us in it for another 2 to 3 months (so almost 2 more months from now), and yes, we see him monthly. One thing that I found VERY helpful, and I think I found it here, was to use 91% rubbing alcohol to clean your helmet. It makes such a difference - it seems to really neutralize any yukky smells. I can't stand for my sweet little boy to have a stinky noggin, and anything you wear for 23 hours a day will get icky. You can buy it at Walgreens, but I am sure you can find it lots of places. Did you say your daughter is 6 months old? Believe it or not, you will find that she looks adorable in the crazy thing, and after a few weeks we actually thought our son looked funny without it - like someone without thier glasses!! We got a blue one and decorated his with stickers, and that really makes it look less clinical. Best of luck with all of this. Let me know how it goes tonight!!
