Guest guest
Do you have your free t3 numbers? That way you can divide your rt3 number into the free t3 number to see if you are reversing like I am. If that be the case, that could be why you feel bad...you may need to be on Cytomel (t3 only) in order to get rid of that high rt3. Mine is 27, range 11 - 32, but my ft3 is 290, giving me a level of 10.78...which is too low. Should be, as I understand it, 20 or over to feel decent. Will be starting on Cytomel here as soon as it comes in. I'm new, too, so I'm learning! Subject: New here- where to startTo: RT3_T3 Date: Wednesday, June 2, 2010, 11:56 PM Hello all!I've been Hashi's for 5 years, started Erfa in October after crashing on the new Armour. Got up to 2 grains and felt "okay", but have been feeling really bad lately. I stopped taking my Efra a few days ago and I feel MUCH better, but I know I can't NOT take anything. I've been through cortisol testing and my last ferritin test it was 61.Just had these 2 labs run:RT3 28 (11-32)T3 5.6 (2.3-4.2)So, what should I do first? I do have some Cytomel (25) on hand. Quite frankly, I feel like I've spent 8 months trying to get Erfa to work for me and it's not (my labs haven't always looked like this). I feel like I'm starting all over. So tired of all the money I've spent and TIME and I'm still not feeling well. Please adviseCarin
Guest guest
Hi, I'm still learning as well but your FT3/RT3 ratio is 560/28 = 20 This is good as it need to be 20 or above. However your RT3 reading is very high in range so this would indicate a problem. Did you take your med before the blood draw? If you took them on the day of the draw your FT3 might be falsely elevated. The reason you probably felt better when off the ERFa is because it contains T4. And T4 is the prohormone for RT3 and instead of making T3 it might have been making RT3. Therefore stopping the Erfa slows down the RT3 production?! Just a guess. Great that you have tested your adrenals-post the reults when they are in Are you taking any iron supps? Perhaps you could ask your doc if he could run a full iron panel to see how things are. Ferritin is key as it helps thyroid hormone to be properly utilzed into the cells. Good luck Josie > Hello all!> I've been Hashi's for 5 years, started Erfa in October after crashing on the new Armour. Got up to 2 grains and felt "okay", but have been feeling really bad lately. Guest guest
I did take my Erfa before the draw (not on purpose). I had an appt about something else and the doctor mentioned running these tests b/c she wanted to see what was going on after taking my meds. I'm taking a liquid iron. I tried the Blue Bonnet pills, but my levels were climbing VERY slowly. With the liquid, I went from 35-60 in 2 weeks. So I wonder if I even have a RT3 problem or I just need to lower my Erfa?? The biggest difference with me is I did the testing through Entero lab and have been off gluten since February...also been working on just healing my gut as my malabsorbtion was very high. He mentioned that I might need less thyroid med as my gut heals?? > > > Hi, > > > > I'm still learning as well but your FT3/RT3 ratio is > > 560/28 = 20 > > > > This is good as it need to be 20 or above. Guest guest
Taking meds before the draw insures a MUCH higher T3 reading than you actually have which still would indicate an RT3 issue. -- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/
