Guest guest
We use it. My level was not detectable at all on my hair test. And yes it would help with depression and mood swings. It comes in 5mg capsules usually. You can try taking one a day to see how it goes. I found that I only needed one cap two to three times a week. And as I got along in treatment, I only need one periodically now, when I am having what I call " mercury depression " . The bad thoughts and negative morbid thinking...pop one of those down and within a few hours I feel better again. I also use it for my 12 year old on the same dosing. She also had no detectable hair lithium and we have the same symptoms as you describe. It's worth a try. And it's supplemental lithium nothing like the prescription stuff we all hear horror stories about. Normally, people ingest lithium in drinking water, some parts of the country do not have very much in the water, and add to that a mercury problem...and bam! You have a mood problem. > > Has anyone tried lithium orotate for depression if so what dosage is > a safe starting dose.

DA: Please please please be careful with lithium orotate. I am successfully using it along with Lamictal for bi-polar II. My doctor does think there is a connection between toxic metal poisoning, esp with it being in the brain and thus, messing with the brain chemistry, but he's real loath to say that to anyone but me, and there's no real research on the connection [no $ in it, sad to say...] I started on 2 a day, and within about 5 days, started noticing a vastly improved outlook on my life, but it didnt help the episodes I now know were the " crashes " my bi-polar does with me. Trust me, according to your body's ability to use the lithium, it doesnt work any faster; feeling better quickly would be more a placebo effect. I also found out my hormone levels were totally screwed up; from using progesterone cream almost every day for several years; research now [accordeing to my naturopath allergist [NAET]]that the hormone seeps out slowly from the fatty tissues and thus you get a big build-up. AFter a yukky fruit and veggie only diet, I feel soooooo much better overall. Get a salivia hormone panel; out of whack hormones many times can make you depressed, and can exacerbate manic-depression too. I am not chelating at this time; trying to get this other stuff mellowed out. HOpe to start back up soon, but am doing sooo well right now. I DO feel stronger; my muscle tone and aerobic capacity is better than it has been in years [i'm losing weight walking too! Feels SO wonderful to finally have your body respond to your efforts!] .... AND I've started getting bitten by mosquitoes again! I havent been bitten by the little buggers in decades! lol Again, please work with a naturopath or get yourself to a psychiatrist and describe your symptoms and history. Llithium is a mood stabilizer, and does help people with mild depression, but can make mania symptoms more pronounced when used by itself. But be careful about " regular " anti-depressants; if you are bi-polar, those can make you much worse. Regular drs' love to prescribe anti- dep's; not a good thing many times. AND do try to get a good night's sleep. B6, along with GABA, helped me greatly with sleep, which in turn, helps you cope better and helps your mood overall, as well as your adrenals.... Hey, it took me a year of weekly chelation treatments to get to where I am; thank goodness I started all this. Good luck. / DA

Guest guest
I am not bipolar just having a hard time with bouts of depression. I have metal problems esp arsenic. I am wondering if you have to be careful with lithium orotate if manic or all types of depression? So you think 5mg every other day is a good way to try if it does anything? Guest guest
If you have undetectable hair lithium, this is a good sign it will benefit you and you are safe taking it. 5 mg is really a very safe, supplemental amount and is not even a therapeutic dosage for lithium orotate. A google search will turn up plenty of information on lithium orotate. -- > > I am not bipolar just having a hard time with bouts of depression. I > have metal problems esp arsenic. DA: Hey didnt say you were BP, Bud; you asked for advice, and this forum costs you nothing.... ok, dont take my word for this... why dont you just " google " lithium orotate yourself and read up on all the med journals and determine this for yourself.... there's lots of good info - use discernment when they are also selling supps; but you should be intelligent enought to pick out the legit info.. Also look into Arsenic Poisoning and the supplements to help with that in those Balch manuals - Prescriptions for Natural Healing " i think is the name.. pls dont write back and ask us where to get it; go on amazon. com or other bookseller... good luck / DA
Guest guest
I dont take an issue against being bipolar or not, Heavy metal poisoned people have all types of issues and some of those issues have names. I think if you reread the post youll see that I was not insulted if you assumed I was bipolar, I just happen to be simply at times depressed. What I did wonder if this supplement was more sensitive for those with all types of depression. BUT Ill try it and see. I am bouncing ideas here not discrediting your input, thats all. THanks for your input. > > > > I am not bipolar just having a hard time with bouts of depression. I > > have metal problems esp arsenic. Llithium is a mood stabilizer, > and does help people with mild depression, but can make mania symptoms > more pronounced when used by itself. With bipolar, I think you need to be judicious about a number of supplements. They can have different effects in different people (and maybe different at different times, I am not sure). Lithium (either lithium carbonate or lithium orotate) can help to prevent mania and may help to address it if it is mild (more severe mania requires drug treatment). But people are different and some may respond badly (just as people respond differently to any other supplements or Rx drugs). Other supplements that you should investigate before taking them (if you have depression, mania, or manic-depression) are choline and inositol, probably gaba and others. You may be able to get some idea of how these will affect you by reading about them (just as with Rx drugs). I'm no expert, but those suggestions seem reasonable from my reading. Hormone support is also important. This book has information and advice about various emotional difficulties, supplements to take, etc: http://www.noamalgam.com/naturalhealing.html --

Actually I've always heard that lithium is depressive and bipolars go off it because they start to get manic when it is discontinued and that feels good. Anyone with frankly diagnosable mental illness like bipolar disorder, personality disorder or schizophrenia absolutely needs to use medications - thoughtfully and judiciously - in addition to supplements and diet in order to be in adequate control to stick with a chelation program and get better. I realize many psychiatrists and other doctors are not thoughtful and judiciious in their prescribing practices, but you can find such doc's, and if you work with them you'll have the stability it takes to get better. If not, you won't. Andy
