I went in January. It was a 4 hour trip, one way, so my husband had

to take a day off work to get me there. When I got there for an 11 am

appointment, the office staff had put me down for 9 am (no, it wasn't

my mistake...I'd been adamant about the fact that I could not make it

by 9 am in the morning when the appointment was scheduled). He took

me in, but didn't have a whole lot of time. He seemed like a really

nice guy & was going to have thorough blood, urine & possibly saliva

testing done. However, his staff didn't follow up with anything. I

didn't get a follow up appointment because his staff never had the

test kits sent to me (needed prior to a follow-up appt to discuss

results), though I called 3 times over the next 4-6 weeks. Worse,

they did not get my blood tests mailed to me after requesting those on

two occasions so I could at least work with my regular DO with them.

My DO's office then sent the formal request for records. That was

several months ago and I'm certain she didn't receive anything,

either.

himself had placed a call to me through a recording system and

left a message saying my bloodwork looked 'ok'. Given the fact that

this was about starting a chelation program, that message didn't tell

me much. He was much more acquainted with mercury toxicity than is

typical, but we felt he was more comfortable with approaching it for

autism than amalgam toxicity.

This appointment was a tremendous dis-appointment. If anyone has had

a more meaningful experience, please let me know, as I would push hard

to see him again if it's worth it. I'd never experienced anything

like this before with a medical professional, and it wasn't the

doctor's professional ability...it was the front desk staff he

employs. As things stand, I had to start chelating without the option

of DMPS instead of DMSA and without treating low cortisol levels

(which were already verified with a saliva test through my DO). I

really wanted all the tests and results, too!!! It would have been

better to have flown out to the west coast, and I wish I had.

Hi Joanne,

thanks for sharing your experience with Dr. and his staff.

I'm sorry to hear it was so bad. The office staff can make a big

difference in how frustrating (or not) a doctor's office can be. I

guess a saving grace is that he is a nice man. I don't like talking

to doctors that don't listen or talk down to me like I know nothing

of how I feel.

I'm wondering, did you specifically discuss with him treating

hypoadrenal and subclinical hypothyroid and or hashimoto's (i came up

TPO positive in saliva test)? How did he seem he would respond? Did

you discuss prescribing Armour thyroid and hydrocortisone? Did he

seem open to those & to dosing to symptom elimination?

I called his office and asked a few questions of Merit, who answered

the phone. I couldn't get much out of her. I got the idea that she

was giving me the medically politically correct answers and didn't

want to get Dr in any sort of trouble. From their point of

view I guess they can never be too sure about who they're talking to

on the phone. When I asked if he treats adrenal fatigue &

subclinical hypothyroid she told me if severe they send you to endo.

I said how about if not severe - then she said yes. She never heard

of Armour thyroid but did know what hydrocortisone was. He does test

free t3/4. could not answer me if he doses to symptom elimination

rather than inadequate THS, and she did say he was open to saliva

testing. I really didn't know what else to ask. So you input would

be appreciated.

Did you show him the saliva test you already had showing low

cortisol? Was he going to treat it? Or did he want to do more

investigation of some sort first? I was wondering if I did go, if I

should stop taking my adreanal support herbs/vitamins/etc. for a

couple weeks before I went to see him if they were going to run add'l

tests of some sort so as not to skew the results.

I am chelating as well without adrenal and thyroid support. Well some

OTC adrenal support, but it's not enough. It's barely good enough

only if I sit in the house all day don't think & talk to no one & had

no stress what so ever to deal with in my life and was maybe rich or

something - but then I'd probably wind up abusing the staff b/c they

would overwhelm me - LOL. I did have saliva testing done myself.

Which I was just hoping I could take to him along with my symptoms

(which I have been diligently trying to document from reading - but

can't really tell which is adrenal and which is thyroid since they

seem to intermingle) and voila proper treatment. I just don't have

the strength or energy to get all geared up for nothing - well maybe

if I rub a whole tube of hydrocortisone cream on myself - LOL. (I'm

in a half way decent mood today for some reason. Probably b/c I did

rub x-tra HC cream on myself this morning. Usually it feels like

every little thing that happens will lead to the end of the world.)

My cortisol could be seen as low normal by traditional medical

doctors. And my thyroid would definitely be considered normal by

traditional docs as well. I even read that some don't treat for

hashi's antibodies if your TSH, Ft3 & ft4 are " in range " . In case

you're interested here is where my results are posted

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/frequent-dose-

chelation/message/18055 .

Did you share your hairtest results with him? (Assuming here that

you did a hair test.) Was he open to them? I was wondering if he

wasn't open to them for mercury interpretation maybe then for

nutrient evaluation as mine was all low. I read in a past post where

someone said that Dr said that hairtests were not reliable.

So, in a nutshell, I'm wondering if it would be a great big waste of

time too.
