Both individual and group sessions are now being scheduled. We may also be able to provide home therapy sessions throughout Dade and Broward County. An individual may benefit from music therapy if he/she: · Easily learns words to songs, but has deficits in verbal communication, · Is more animated and engaged when involved in music activities, · Spends time humming, singing, or vocalizing to himself, · Has limited joint attention skills and/or poor imitation, · Has limited meaningful interaction with others An individual may benefit from art therapy if he/she: · Is creative with construction materials (i.e., puzzles, legos), but has deficits in verbal communication, · Is more animated and engaged when involved in active & creative activities, · Spends time drawing, scribbling, or transforming objects into other thigns · Has limited joint attention skills and/or poor imitation, · Has limited meaningful interaction with others All therapy using music and art is not created equal. Music therapists and art therapists have completed a degree from an accredited university program, have extensive clinical training and supervision, and may hold Board-Certification.
