That system looks very cool, what I find as the problem with some of these units

is keeping them charged.

There was a discussion here about a year ago, I posted this in post number

52126, which if you go to you b=can find the related posts in that thread:

We used to use a stand alone tracking device, one of the first generation units.

Today there are 3 basic formats to choose from:

Project Lifesaver/LoJack Safety Net: 911 based, police do the tracking

GPS based units: internet or smart phone mapping for location

Stand alone: portable base station (flip phone size)indicates direction and

distance

All require some type device worn by the child, typically a wrist watch type

device or something of that size attached to clothing.

The stand alone device we had (ION Kids)worked as advertised but was a pain to

keep charged. We could set a perimeter alarm and if the child ranged beyond it

it would alert and when opened tell direction and distance. We reserved it for

the occasional trip to a mall or church carnival because of the difficulty (for

us) to keep it charged.

The Project Lifesaver/LoJack Safety Net units involve calling the police, who

then use a direction finding device to find the child. Response time is based on

how long you wait to call and where the nearest trained officer and DF unit is

located to where you need it.

The GPS units I think are pretty cool. They allow you to go to a website using

your computer or smart phone and " see " on a map where your child is. Some have

panic buttons on the device the kids can use in emergencies.

There are also some very low cost units that are similar to the " panic buttons "

on car keychains. You put a little keychain type device on a belt or shoe and

when you hit your hand held " panic button " the device on your kids goes off like

an alarm (probably scare the heck out of him, but it will make him easy to find)

There are also cell phones that double as tracking devices too, one I have seen

by Disney looked very cool.

The Ion Kids device we had was several years ago and a first generation unit. It

was about $200 then and I'm sure revisions have made improvements.

I'm not personally familiar with any other system (than Ion Kids), but the above

is what I know from just following this technology.

Do a search for child tracking device, lots to choose from.
