Guest guest
Jane/Sher Don't know if I have it or not but seeing as how between 50% and 80% of adults are infected with the virus by the age of 40, chances are good. It remains dormant and resurfaces as i understand it. I've seen it talked about some on some of the autoimmune boards. Most healthy people don't even know they have it and have no symptoms. However, it can cause problems in those with weakened immune systems. There is also Congenital CMV and 40,000 children per year are born with it. It can affect any part of the body. Antiviral drugs are used to contain it but not cure it. Its a herpes family virus and in many ways sort of like mononucelosis. My old standby, Mayo Clinic: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cmv/DS00938 Best info I think at NIH: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000663.htm Here is the CDC's site on it: http://www.cdc.gov/cmv/ And >> Jane....
