Guest guest
I was very scared about hbot when i first heard about it but i can tell you that from firsthand experience it worked wonders for our son Lucas. So much so that we decided to dedicate our lives to working with children with special needs developing a center for him. Lucas is now walking, talking and in 2nd Grade, on level I might add!!! We just got back from his IEP meeting and we couldn't be happier. I believe that therapy and hbot has helped him in ways nothing else could. I am always available to chat with anyone that wants to hear our story. . Remember we are offering FREE MHBOT for the months of JANUARY and FEBRUARY and if we can extend this we will. That is how important we think this treatment is. Guest guest
Hi! I thought I would just add my two cents in about SPECT scans which we did do for Lucas prior to starting HBOT many years ago with Dr Neubauer. Lucas' spect scan showed such horrendous damage that Dr Neubauer was afraid to talk to me about it. In the end Lucas' SPECT scan does NOT represent who he is and therefore we decided on never doing another one again. The story the spect scan showed as opposed to the real child was not at all aligning. I understand why parents want to do it but i am just saying for us it was very disappointing, scary and not accurately depictive of who lucas was or is. eileen > > > > > > > > > From: Eileen de Oliveira - Therapies 4 Kids <eileen@> > > > Subject: Re: Hyperbaric oxygen chamber > > > To: _sList _ (mailto:sList ) > > > Date: Tuesday, January 18, 2011, 11:36 AM > > > > > > > > >  > > > > > > > > > > > > We have a non profit that can do that. www.brightstepsforward.org > > > Sent via BlackBerrry > > > Therapies 4 Kids > > > www.therapies4kids.com > > > eileen@ > > > begin_of_the_skype_highlighting > end_of_the_skype_highlighting > > > > > > > > > From: Darla <alfia37@> > > > Sender: _sList _ > (mailto:sList ) > > > Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2011 23:17:12 -0500 (EST) > > > To: <_sList _ > (mailto:sList ) > > > > ReplyTo: _sList _ > (mailto:sList ) > > > Subject: Re: Hyperbaric oxygen chamber > > > > > >  > > > > > > I was thinking this as well...and if we donated to a non profit org > that would support our use it could be a tax write off as well??? > > > > > > > > > > > > Regards, > > > Darla Haskell > > > > > > > > > renting a chamber > > > > > >  > > > > > > How much does it cost to rent a chamber? Is it monthly charge? > > > > > >
Guest guest
Could you tell me what the risks of HBOT are particularly to people who have had surgeries? Do you know if the respiratory improvements are long term? Is there any risk to the ears if the child is unable to "clear?" What about dental work? Are there tests or scans other than just a brain scan as I would think this therapy would affect the whole body? Thank you for sharing. Guest guest
I've been listening to all this discussion about HBOT and quite frankly if one follows the advice below, that a minimum of 40 hours is required before one sees results, it will be quite a costly "leap of faith." Any family that has a limited budget to spend on autism therapies should think long and hard about committing so many dollars in one basket, so to speak. Just my two cents. From: To: sList Sent: Wed, January 19, 2011 9:47:13 PMSubject: Re: Re: Hyperbaric oxygen chamber To find out if HBOT is going to be effective for your child all you can do is try it. You will need to make that same leap of faith that the rest of us made when we decided to try it and know that you will need a minimum of 40 hours in the chamber before you will really know, but I started to see real changes in my son around 16 hours. We do one hour a day six days a week. I personally would skip the SPECT scan probably useless. renting a chamber > > > > Â > > > > How much does it cost to rent a chamber? Is it monthly charge? > > >

Guest guest
The best way to get accurate info about seizure activity is to do a qEEG - contact Dr. Gerald Gluck in Coral Springs at the Brain Healing Center of America http://www.brainhealingcenter.com/index.php?sec=9 The trouble with using SPECT scans or regular EEGs to detect seizure activity is that seizures are intermittent so will probably not get picked up. We were told by Dr Rossignol that it was 95.% likely that a 7 year old non verbal kid was experiencing seizures but the SPECT he sent us for showed nothing. My understanding is that only a 24 hour EEG can really reliably pick up seizures and of course most of our kids can't tolerate that test Some doctors put kids on anti seizure meds without knowing if they have seizures or not but that doesn't seem a great idea either But does anyone know any other method of checking for seizures ?Sent from my iPhone Don’t the scans also determine whether there is seizure activity? Guest guest
I’d heard the same about needing a 24 hour scan. I’d also heard SPECT scans can be utilized over a 24 hour period. There is some research, easily found online, regarding anti-seizure medication, apraxia and improvement in speech. There is also a supplement that provides similar outcomes for those children struggling with apraxia (pre-verbal). It was a double blind placebo study. I am trying to recall the supplement but it is found in another supplement called Carnaware. So, I think it’s L-Carnosine. Carnaware also has some Zinc in it, which is usually low in many of our kids. Google it for more info....I realize this is off the topic of hbot but it is interesting. Guest guest
I believe HBOT falls into the group of interventions that may help some children but not all. We tried HBOT for about a year and a half and saw very little if any results. And yes, it was intensive almost every day but in a soft chamber. Perhaps a hard chamber would have provided better results, but our experience did not indicate that. We have tried many things over the last 10+ years. We have some basic rules we follow: Least invasive first Interventions one at a time Enough time in between to be able to tell what works or not We never tell teachers or caregivers and use tham as objective observers Following these rules we have kept some interventions and stopped others. I consider this proof that our little system works and is particurally helpful when it comes to supplements and vitamins to help us determine what works and what doesn't. If there is anything the autism community can agree on, I believe it is that all our kids are different and all respond to interventions differently. Not saying HBOT isn't effective, just saying it may not be effective for all kids with autism. Guest guest
Hello . I always find touring someplace I have never been before intesting. I know the difference between hard and soft chambers and that is why I specified which I have direct experience with. I am not of the opinion that there is any intervention will have a positive impact for all children with autism. The closest thing that does in my opinion is ABA and VB. I stand by this statement of opinion: Not saying HBOT isn't effective, just saying it may not be effective for all kids with autism.
