Guest guest
I have tried taking Vitamin C as Sodium Ascorbate powder compounded at a pharmacy (1/8 tstp at a time), as Calcium ascorbate pills (Solgar's Ester C)(250 mg at a time), just regular Vit C. Nothing suits me! It either gives me the runs pretty soon with a burning derrier, or I get intense burning pains just under the right ribs, when even water hurts and I am flat on my tummy in bed for the rest of the day. Normally when I consume lemons or oranges I break out in an eczema rash. Does this mean I cannot have Vitamin C? What can I have as an alternative? It seems to be a pretty important part of Andy's protocol. Thanks.
Guest guest
Vitamin C is an antioxidant. All fresh fruit and vegetables have antioxidants. There are a couple of things I suggest trying - - keep fresh vegetables that you can tolerate cut up and nibble on them all day - look for a vegetable juicer. Try juicing celery with a small amount of carrot or apple or ginger or fresh vegs that you can tolerate. When testing, try very small quantities at first and if ok gradually increase with time. Juicing fruit is ok except that fruit juices are high sugar so keep the quantities low. - next time you test vit C use the one that has no additives. Mix 1/8 tsp in something that you know you can tolerate and sip it over the course of a day or two days. If that works continue to do it every day and gradually your tolerance will build. (For example if 1/8 tsp in 1 c something sipping over 2 days works, continue to do that and don't increase for some time). - if you can get blueberry/ pomegranate juice freeze it in ice cube trays and try one cube per day. Continue if you can tolerate it. Same thing with V8 or tomato juice if you can tolerate a small amount. Guest guest
You might also try Goji berries -- they come dried or you can get juices. Goji is a himalayan berry that is a very powerful antioxidant. I don't know that anything can take the place of vitamin C, but at least personally i feel the positive effects of Goji in a similar manner to Vitamin c. I do also take lots of Vit C, and feel crappier when i forget to take it -- Goji helps in those situations when I have it nearby and don't have vit c. Mangosteen is also a very good antioxidant, but not as good as Goji. Also, lots of probiotics - one of the supplements that often gets forgotten and that we need lots of. One great inexpensive way to get lots of probiotics is with the SCD home made yogurt. Guest guest
is it possible that you are allergic to corn? if so, most all common vit c is derived from corn and some very sensitive people seem to have problems with it. my doc recommended vit from cassava root for me. available from Buffered Vitamin C Cassava, 120 Capsules, NUTRICOLOGY Buffered Vitamin C Cassava Source Buffered Vitamin C Capsules contains high-purity ascorbic acid buffered with carbonates of calcium and magnesium. Buffered C has an acid-alkaline buffering action that can help control the increased acidity often... also, a highly recommended (by dr. weil, stephen buhner, etc) form of vit c that seems to be very tolerable and absorbable without GI problems is C-salts from http://www.nutri.com/wn/cslt.html i'm using the c-salts now. blessings on your healing journey, kendra
