Guest guest
Your DAN Dr. can run the appropriate tests. elevated androgens Hi Everyone, Hope you had a good long weekend! I'm reading a great book right now, Cutting Edge Therapies for Autism and there is a chapter on elevated androgens or male hormones and how this can impact development of children. I noticed this year my son has developed hair on his legs and tall as 6 or 7 year old and he will be 5 in November, his pediatrician said it's a non issue but my question is what type of Dr. would I go to for an inital clinical assessment for elevated androgens? Also does anyone have experience with this, feel free to email me off list. As always thanks for input.

Guest guest
You should probably see an endocrinologist to check the hormone levels, get a bone age done and consult with the doctor. You can email me privately, if you'd like. I have knowledge of this. My email is Jodi854@.... Jodi Neuhof Hi Everyone,Hope you had a good long weekend! Guest guest
My daughter sees Dr. Freedman. He is an endocrinologist with offices in Plantation and limited office hours in Boca. He is very good, although he can be a bit gruff at times . His number is . I would call his office to verify, but I believe he can test all of the hormone levels for your child. Check with your insurance company to verify coverage. Good luck.  Hi Everyone,Hope you had a good long weekend! Guest guest
Dr. Young from Genetic Consultants of Ft. Lauderdale in Tamarac is an Endocrinologist dealing with children with autism. What you are describing is Precocious Puberty which happens in autism when the androgens are elevated due to mercury toxicity. Dr. Young specializes with kids on the autism spectrum with Hyperandrogenemia which is high androgens. 954 720-1911 talk to Isabella for an appointment. Guest guest
My son (PDD-NOS) had all the signs of precocious puberty and our endocrinologist determined that he has a condition called Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH). It is a genetic defect of the adrenal gland. It was not caused by any mercury toxicity and is strictly a medical condition. Any good pediatric endocrinologist knows this and should test for it.
