CT scan ?

Last Thursday, I had a CT scan with contrast and dye. I sure didn't want to use either of those things...but felt I had no choice. Really needed to 'see' what's going on in my pelvis. When the dye was injected the Tech told me that I'd start to get a warm sensation all over, also said I'd probably feel like I needed to pee. I was thinking, "oh great, now you tell me that when I'd already mentioned I have IC." Anyway, I did feel the warm sensation (was freaky) but then instead of feeling like I needed to pee, I felt burning in my vulvar area! She must have been watching me on a monitor, because I know I got a freaked out, panicked look on my face...she immediately came in the room and checked on me...I told her my vulvar area was burning and she unhooked the dye. Has anyone had a similar experience? Makes me wonder about the nerves in the vulvar region.

I wonder if burning sensations like that ARE allergic

reactions. I had an experience with the anit-biotic

Tetracycline years ago. the palms of my hands and

soles of my feet were BURNING.

Then I had random rashes for a couple of weeks, and

when they hit the groin I was in so much pain!

I spoke to aNurse who told me that was the beginning

of an Anaphylactic reaction.

It was pretty frightening.

All I know is the tech 'quickly' unhooked the dye...but I was completely fine after she did and had no problems later. Very weird. Hugs, Chelle

Dusty, it was a hard decision, and I sure did not want to actually use the dye, but I felt like I needed to go for it...just wanted to KNOW what's going on. I probably won't do it anymore...but the tests I had that day were worth the risks of the contrast... Ghee whiz, how awful what happened to your dad. Hugs, Chelle
