Guest guest
I don't know as far as the stress dosing since you are not on cortisol, but make sure they stitch up the opening. I got mine removed at 19 and the dentist just left the extraction area open. I remember bleeding a lot. That was also the year my adrenals crashed. I think bacteria ended up getting in there and continued during the years (cavitations) which I now have to address one I can afford to get my dental work done. The other thing you can do to help the areas heal is to swish sea salt/water mixture around your mouth several times a day. Cheri New to this forum - wondering about wisdom teeth being pulled I am having my 3 remaining wisdom teeth pulled on Thurs (1-24)-just pulled, not cut out, as they erupted when I was in my late teens. My question is - if I am not on any Isocort or HC (except OTC HC cream once in a while when my stress symptoms seem out-of-control) as I am waiting for the results of my Diagnos-Techs saliva testing, is there anything I can or should do to minimize the stress reaction to this procedure? I am still on levothyroxine (have a filled prescription of Armour waiting for me to get the status of my adrenals) and started sea salt (Himalayan?) this past Friday. K . Guest guest
Thanks, Val and Cheri! I will do the cream and make sure to ask about stitching up the holes (I don't think they usually do that, do they?) and will use my sea salt as a rinse. Thanks again! Guest guest
, Many of my friends said their dentists stitched up their holes and it is common practice where I am now. However, I got mine done a few decades ago by a rural dentist who did a lot of damaging things. It makes sense that you don't want to leave the hole open to bacteria and while one tooth didn't bleed that badly, in the other one I had constant bleeding for days. I only learned a few years ago about cavitations and how they can poison your entire body. You should probably Google cavitations and their dangers and take it with you to your appointment (the research) in case your dentist doesn't stitch. That way you can insist. They have stitches that automatically dissolve in a few days so s/he should be able to use those. Cheri Re: New to this forum - wondering about wisdom teeth being pulled Thanks, Val and Cheri! Guest guest
Hi If he does not stitch make sure not to make harsh movements within the first hour, don't gargle strongly first one or two days..(not sure if it was one or two days) you might google on that. This is important for not moving the blot clot forming there.when blot clot moves it is very likely that you might have a cavitation problem.I learned my lesson in hard way. bw Nil Re: New to this forum - wondering about wisdom teeth being pulled Thanks, Val and Cheri! Guest guest
Why is that, Nil? With the blood clot? Mine moved constantly in one tooth and really never formed much of one to begin with. I bled for days. Guest guest
Cheri, I will search out that info. The dentist who pulled my first wisdom tooth (around 4 years ago maybe - fuzzy memory) did not stitch. And, man, did that thing take LONG to heal up! I guess I just assumed that no stitching was the norm. This is a different dentist that the one who pulled the first one, so I will see what he does and be armed with info on the stitching situation. Thanks!
Guest guest
Nil, I remember being told this when I got the first one pulled several years ago. Also wasn't supposed to use a straw due to the suction it would cause in the mouth and possibly disrupt the clot. I am scared of dry socket, or whatever it is called, so I am going to ask for stitches! Thanks!
Guest guest
Hi Cheri blood clot normally starts forming right after the extraction. here is some info on that http://www.dentalgentlecare.com/extraction_post-op.htm or did you have coagulation problems? bw Nil Re: New to this forum - wondering about wisdom teeth being pulled Hi If he does not stitch make sure not to make harsh movements within the first hour, don't gargle strongly first one or two days..(not sure if it was one or two days) you might google on that. This is important for not moving the blot clot forming there.when blot clot moves it is very likely that you might have a cavitation problem.I learned my lesson in hard way. bw Nil . Guest guest
Thanks. You know, the seam in the back lower teeth is still not sealed after 20 years. Periodically they open up (it's a slit) and will create pain and problems for me. They are frequently irritated too. This is why I am pretty sure I have cavitations and I know food gets in there sometimes. Guest guest
That website mentions sutures with the blood clots. Since I never had sutures, who knows what went on with mine. Looks like that dentist does a good job on them. I just know I still have problems with the bottom two ones. Guest guest
Yes, please do. Over 20 years later I still have problems with mine and they still open up. Guest guest
Really? That helped my first tooth. The second one that bled like crazy I didn't do it because I was just bleeding constantly. Though if you swish too hard I could imagine that would open the clot and be bad. I never had a lot of pain but mine never healed either because they didn't stitch it up. I think if they stitch it the clotting process goes much better. Did you have yours stitched, Sol? Cheri -----Original Message----- OMG! Guest guest
I can't remember exactly what happened, but I think they stitched it and it came loose. Then there was a hole with a slight flap over it. It did hurt, but not beyond what I would have expected or more than where the other tooth was removed. When it did start hurting and I went back in they said it was a dry socket and that an infection had set up from the food particles getting in it. It did take a really long time for the hole to fill in and there is still an indention there and not in the other areas where my wisdom teeth were removed. Cheire Experience: that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God do you learn.--C.S. > By " dry socket " are you talking about cavitations?
