Guest guest
>> this feels different than the gas caused by sugar alcohols. wouldn't >> excess stomach acid give me heart burn? i've never had heart burn... Most often it is low stomach acid that is the cause of heart burn. Low stomach acid prevents the digestion of protein and so this protein 'ferments' (for want of a better word) and the by-product is a burning acid. This is most often corrected by increasing HCL. You can try this by first trying Betaine HCL with meals to help digest the protein, next best is either taking some vitamin C with foods, or adding 10 drops USP grade HCL 5% to a little water and taking it with meals (about as strong as vinegar, but don't let it soak around your teeth). There is a quick test on Bee's Candida website to test whether you have high or low stomach acid. Both the adrenals and the thyroid increase stomach HCL, so problems with either can cause low stomach acid. > If you do have low stomach acid, doing strict atkins could be pretty > hard on digestion. You would not be able to digest all that protein > well. you can use the above tips to help. I do whenever I eat a lot of protein in a meal. Do you have insomnia? Bacteria in the gut are one of the most common causes of insomnia. Dean
