Guest guest
I got my blood test results and I am so frustrated! My ferritin dropped from a 6 to a 4 in one month's time, and that was WITH iron supplements. I'm doing all the right things - take it with vit C, don't take it with other minerals or milk, away from T3, etc. etc. My MCV, MCH, and Hemoglobin are low; RDW is high. Hematocrit is one point away from being officially low. So, I see the doc on Thursday. Something will have to be done before my next cycle begins, or I'm afraid I will end up in the ER with a blood transfusion. I am going to push for Venofer. I am so sensitive to all meds. High dose iron supps (oral) give me migraines. Can someone tell me their experience with Venofer? Thanks so much,
Guest guest
, I was hospitialized with a ferritin of 7 and given a infusion of venafor. I had a horrible reaction to it & almost died. That said, I may not have had that reaction to another type and many use venafor very successfully. If they pretest the infusion as they should, you will be safe. My nurse dropped the ball and didnt check on me as she should have. On the positive side. it drastically boosted my ferritin to 54 and I was only able to receive half the infusion! It was enough to get me out of the ditch and then I was prescribed repliva which is 150 mg elemental iron daily and that is what I am on now. Ferritin is steadily rising. Your ferritin level is very low and needs to be addressed now. I have never heard of anyone being able to get one that low up with just oral supplementation. Shots may be an option as well. Venofer experiences? >I got my blood test results and I am so frustrated! My ferritin > dropped from a 6 to a 4 in one month's time, and that was WITH iron > supplements. Guest guest
, Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I'm so sorry you went through that. I'm scared to death, but want to be prepared for whatever happens. I have an extremely high pain tolerance, but needles send me over the edge. Probably because they can never find a vein, and when they finally get one, it collapses very quickly. I see the doctor on Thursday. She is a family doc, but is excellent, and seems to know her stuff. I hope she will go ahead and get this taken care of, not pass me on to a hematologist or a gyn. If all else fails, I'll wait till my period starts with the profuse bleeding and head to the ER, where they'll have to do something with me. I'm going to be positive, though, and think that won't happen. I'll post when I figure out what the outcome of all this will be.
