Guest guest
Crystal this is very interesting. I've always done well on the b12 sublingual, but I've spoken to people who do better on the b12 shots. This is one of those that I'd try the non-doc/cheaper/painless way first (sublingual b12), and if that didn't work, go for the shots. Although there will certainly be people for whom the shots just plain work better, I do think part of the reason the sublinguals may not work sometimes is that some folks don't take enough - 10,000mcg a day is what I take. > > I think this is important. I have had a pounding uncomfortable heart for 2 1/2 years!! Nothing helped me with this issue. Two weeks ago I started taking high doses of sublingual b-12 and had a dump for 10 days. My temps were 99's all day. At mid-night my temp was 99.6 and I was hot. My heart is much better. My doctor is going to call in shots for me. I have taken the sublinguals for over a year(5,000 mcg) but it didn't seem to work. I took 15-20,000 mcg throughout the day or when my heart would race. Anyone with celiac or low iron probably has low b-12. Seems to help me a lot. >
Guest guest
The type of B12 you take matter too. I take the methycobalamin. Tammy Re: Heart pounding / b12 Crystal this is very interesting. Guest guest
My own Dr. gets b12 shots all the time. She says she feels great after them. I feel nothing after them, but I seem to be the exception. Tammy, who posted earlier, also had a very good point - the type of b12. Methylcobalamin is now recommended most often, although years ago I also had good results with cyanocobalamin. I believe the shots are generally methyl now, although it can't hurt to ask about that. Guest guest
Crystal Try to get your dr to prescribe methylcobalamin instead of cyanocobalamin.Methyl is what your body uses and Cyano has a cyanide molecule and has to be converted to methyl. Also if you can get one without preservatives that would be better.I have an ongoing problem with heart pounding and irregular beat so I'll be curious to see how this works for you.I have a problem taking B12 because it mobilizes, so I could be deficient. Guest guest
Chantel, what do you mean by mobilizes? It's always takes my doctor awhile to actually call in a Rx. If I didn't want methyl, I'd probably order cyno myself.Subject: Re: Heart pounding / b12To: RT3_T3 Date: Thursday, May 27, 2010, 8:58 AM Crystal Try to get your dr to prescribe methylcobalamin instead of cyanocobalamin.Methyl is what your body uses and Cyano has a cyanide molecule and has to be converted to methyl. Also if you can get one without preservatives that would be better.I have an ongoing problem with heart pounding and irregular beat so I'll be curious to see how this works for you.I have a problem taking B12 because it mobilizes, so I could be deficient.
