Miami-Dade Teen Time

UM-NSU CARD is offering Miami-Dade teens (ages 13-19) with Asperger's Syndrome the opportunity to interact with other teens once a month through social activities. Themes include game night, movie night, chess night, and other fun things to do. This group is free, but registration is required.

FIU Lecture: " Teaching to Request "

A child's ability to control his environment is critical to development across a variety of domains. Tips for using everyday opportunities to increase the use of requests will be presented in this lecture by Paloma Pedraza.

iCan Chat: Language Interventions

using Assistive Technology

This intervention program is designed to improve communication and social interaction skills in young children with autism and similar disabilities. We provide child-focused language interventions (using communication devices such as the iPad), parent coaching, and targeted therapy sessions.

Rosemont Academy Introduces Bal-A-Vis-X

Rosemont Academy is a small, private Kindergarten-4th grade elementary school designed for high-functioning students with mild to moderate learning differences. Golfing with Autism

Sponsored by Gifts in Golf, this program is designed for boys and girls (ages 7-16) with high-functioning autism. Our aim is to expose children to the fundamentals of golf with a fun and enjoyable approach. Students will gain confidence, motor control, discipline, and knowledge.

Sports Programs for Youth With Autism

Presented by the Miami-Dade County Department of Parks and Recreation. In the " Shoot for the Goal " program, participants will work on fundamental soccer skills including passing, dribbling, scoring, and goalkeeping. Sportsmanship, teamwork, and social skills will be emphasized during each session. We will also have a basketball program later in 2012, and a baseball program in early 2013.
