Guest guest
Most folks on this group notice a BIG difference at 12 weeks. Some 11 1/2 weeks, some 13 weeks, but that's the general pattern. Labs during the clearing phase are not all that useful, because they may show that the RT3 is all gone; BUT this is only from the blood; there may still be plenty of RT3 left blocking the receptors. Unfortunately, blood tests will not show this. It is possible to clear RT3 by avoiding all T4 meds, but for most of us here that doesn't do it. Most here find that they need to go on T3-only for at least 12 weeks to clear RT3. Val and Nick both had great results with T3-only. It does take time. > > I just wondered if you have to wait 12 weeks for it to clear on T3 meds, or can it start to clear sooner than that? Does it ever clear on it's own when you get off of any t4 containing meds? If you have labs done during the 12 weeks, will they possibly show the rt3 levels declining? I've already been off of t3/t4 meds for almost 3 weeks, and I've had bad symptoms for 8 weeks...(too long before I had an idea that I was reversing). 12 more weeks seem so unbearable. Any encouragement at this point is so welcome! >
Guest guest
Thanks so much, Margery. I know from my ratio that my ft3/rt3 ratio is way off. ft3 - 290 (range 230 - 420), rt3, 27 (range 11 - 32) I have to talk to my doctor Tuesday. I'm hoping she will go ahead and put me on t3, but I have ordered it anyway just in case she does not. Right now, my quality of life stinks. I don't want to make it worse by adding in something that will hurt me, so do you feel the addition of t3 is safe? I'm just so scared. She has me on hc, 15 mg daily, but I really can't tell any difference. Now she wants me to gear back down to 10 mg daily. Don't think it will make much difference. Would love to hear your story! I appreciate your input! Subject: Re: Does rt3 clear all at once? (Anyone please answer)! To: RT3_T3 Date: Saturday, May 29, 2010, 2:42 AM Most folks on this group notice a BIG difference at 12 weeks. Go across to the adrenal group and seek advice from them http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ Their FAQ Web site is here http://faqhelp.webs.com/ They say that a small dose of HC can make things WORSE by suppressing your own production without providing enough replacement and regard 20 as a minimum starting dose Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
Guest guest
>If you have labs done during the 12 weeks, will they possibly show the rt3 levels declining? The labs will show a massive reduction in RT3, often to below the level they can measure. As Margaret says this is not that helpful as the serum levels don't show what's happening at receptor level and that takes time, typically 12 weeks from the time you start T3 and drop T4 >I've already been off of t3/t4 meds for almost 3 weeks, and I've had bad symptoms for 8 weeks...(too long before I had an idea that I was reversing). 12 more weeks seem so unbearable. You may be able to take a bit more T3 to become less hypo while waiting Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
Guest guest
Nick, I'm not on t3 yet! I have ordered some last Thursday, but it will be a couple of weeks probably before it comes in! I am hoping my doctor will go ahead and prescribe it Tuesday when I talk to her. She is forward thinking, but she wants to go so slowly....ie: the small amount of hc, and then telling me to taper back on it. Truly, since my adrenals are getting a lot of support from high C and a lot of the Dr. Lam protocol, I'm not sure I need the HC anyway. I was on Isocort before. My temps. are averaging around 97.8 - 98.0 per day. Since I got off the thyroid meds....I just feel more of a brain fog and more like I don't want to do anything. The shortness of breath is the worst. Feel like not getting any t3 for a while may have put this into play. I understand the t3 won't hurt me, anyway, right? Thanks so much!>If you have labs done during the 12 weeks, will they possibly show the rt3 levels declining? The labs will show a massive reduction in RT3, often to below thelevel they can measure. Guest guest
Oh, I forgot to write that my pulse rate is around 60 - 70 most times. I don't have my ferritin level yet, but if I have labs done next week, I am going to try and get that done. Thanks, Nick.....you're a sweetheart!>If you have labs done during the 12 weeks, will they possibly show the rt3 levels declining? Temperatures look stable but you may need more support once you start taking enough thyroid to do some good (HC is " used up " as T3 is transported into the cells). Depending how much thyroid meds you were on, the state of your own thyroid, and how much good they were doing you might need to start something soon, waiting 3 weeks for T3 to arrive may not be an option Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com

Guest guest
> >You said 3 weeks might be too long to wait....I agree. I just don't know how to get it any sooner! Help! That level of natural was too little to do any good, you should be able to stop from there without a problem > >I'm only taking 5 mg HC am and 5 mg pm (doctor for some reason told me to cut back). If I take more what will it do That may be a problem. join the adrenal group and talk it through with them, too little HC can be worse than none as it suppresses your own production without replacing enough http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ Their FAQ Web site is here http://faqhelp.webs.com/ Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
