Guest guest
I think I need to clarify that the FT3 was measured in pg/dl and the RT3 was measured in pg/ml. (I did the labs about 30 mins. apart, fasting, in the morning. but had to do the RT3 at LabCorp and did the others at Quest. It was because I used my doc's discount for some labs and had to use econolab for the Rt3 as my doc's office deal for some reason doesn't inclue rt3 testing! WAY more info than you needed!) I'm metric-challenged, along with everything else. I just keep trying to do the math by myself and no number is making sense. Thanks much! > > Hi there. > > I haven't posted in a while. I'm the person who was not getting better on T3 only (though very much believe in it). I could not tolerate being off NT for some odd reason, but boy did I try. So, I went back on 1/2 grain while being on 25mcg Cytomel. My Rt3 dominance was still able to clear. (Though don't know what the ratio is now. My brain fog won't let me figure it out!) > > I posted some other labs because this is what helps tell my story: my FT3 is low now and it was HIGHER when I was on NO cytomel at all, and only NT, though my horrific brain fog was much worse on 2 grains of NT, which makes sense as my ratio went from 17 on 1 grain of NT to 11 on 2 grains. It's like my body needs the increased dose, but can't tolerate it. And, I also can't tolerate the increase in cytomel!!! > > My ferritin is good (i've done iron IVs several times. Guest guest
Thanks very much, Josie! Maybe Nick or Val can weigh in, if you're not sure! (though it makes sense, now that I look at it.) I'd very much like to get mods (or those who have ideas) thoughts on what might be going on with the lab trends. I could really use some help. Thanks! > > > Hi Carol > > I think your ratio is > > > > 2280/124 = 18.4 > > > > Josie > > > > To: RT3_T3 > From: carol47@... > Date: Fri, 14 May 2010 22:41:42 +0000 > Subject: new LABS - need help figuring Ft3/rt3 ratio - i'm the one w/ weird sxs, val! > > > > > > Hi there. > > I haven't posted in a while. Thoughts are you are not on enough and are not matching the HC and T3 doses together. At that dose level of T3 your own thyroid is still producing T4 and hence the levels vary when you take more of less T3. My gut feeling is you need to increase T3 AND HC at the same time. The extra T3 drops your temperature because it uses up HC and you don't have any reserves. I would try adding more T3 and increase the HC at the same time, spread the T3 out through the day. If temperature drops on taking T3 it's a sign more HC is needed.
