Guest guest
Good for him and you Barb. I'm happy to hear that. He must be thrilled to be sleeping through the night. The night-time Armour dose does not seem to be affecting my sleep one way or the other, although maybe it will tnite as I increase. Something else did last night though and I've been trying the apple and nutbutter too. It might be the adaptogen that I started on so I'm probably going to quit it for a few days to see if I sleep better. Why does everything we do have to affect sleep. > > You're welcome. And good luck tonight! The apple and PB are working > for DH. No more night creaming and sleeping through! > > Barb

Maybe my pill cutter is no good. DH has a little pharmacy of 3 prescription bottles: 1/2 grain, 1/4 grain, and 1/8 grain. Prescription was for 1/4 grain, so he could increase slowly, but they were low on stock, so gave me whatever 1/4 grain they had, and 1/2 grain for the rest. Then we cut the 1/4 grain into 1/8 grain. And mix and match pills for his daily doses. He's currently doing 1/2, 3/8, 1/4, 1/4. It is quite a trip keeping track of this LOL, but the slow increases seem better tolerated. Guest guest
Yeah, that's what I've got - 1/2 grain/30mg tabs. I've been quartering those though b/c I have to go up by 1/8 grain. I don't always get it right on with the pill cutter but I figure as long as I'm getting the full dose every day, and spreading it out so as not to stress the adrenals, it's OK. > > Most folks try ot get the 1/2 grain tabs and cut those in half. Guest guest
That they do. I hope that I haven't been making it harder on myself by not always being as exact with quartering the 1/2 grain tabs. I meant to ask you Barb, do you have Hashis? I was just thinking about our similar labs, but dissimilar temps - yours being so close to optimal and mine still being way too low - and wondering how we might be different. I do have Hashis and my adrenals are at stage 5 as Diagnostech measures it. Guest guest
Hmmm...okay. That explains it!! Mystery solved! I had a chiropractic adjustment and a 1 hr. massage on the same day. I started new supplement the night before and had them again in the a.m. I felt worse than I have felt in a long time. I had a strange headache, felt very spacey (almost drunk!) and I was so, so, so tired. I called the doc to see if it was the supplements and they said no way. They thought it was b/c of all of the toxins that were released during the chiro care and massage. While I thought that was a neat theory and actually wanted to believe that was the case b/c it sounds so cool and as though I'm making progress, I knew that probably wasn't the case. Now I see it was probably the Armour. Is that what you all would think? I'm super hyper today though so who knows what the heck is going on inside of this whacky bod of mine! I was told I had Grave's in 1993 and given RAI, but never had the eye problems others experience. I later read drinking too many diet drinks could induce hyperthyroidism, and now wonder if that's what happened back then, and if I had waited and cleaned up my diet, it would have corrected itself. The marketing department I worked in at the time was doing a promotion with a diet soft drink company so there was tons of free soda, by the case, that people took home. I don't normally drink soft drinks and may have OD'd. Back then I didn't know anything or to ask for my labwork, so don't even know if I was tested for antibodies. I do know my TSH was something like .00X, my hands had a slight tremor, my pulse was in the 90s, and I'd lost 15 lbs in a little over a month, while eating lots of Christmas cookies! Guess I could ask for the antibody tests next time, cause I hear you can have Grave's and Hashi's together, but then I thought, what would the info tell me? Would it change my treatment of Armour for life? Will do the saliva test next month (can't wait). Barb P.S. DH woke again last night at 5 a.m., so this sleep stuff is hit or miss. For you, I'd recommend half an apple, and 2 tablespoons of sunbutter. Take the magnesium, but not the new supplement (I think I read somewhere rhodiola could be stimulating). Don't take the chromium unless it's with a big meal, because it lowers blood sugar and couold MAKE you hypogycemic.

Guest guest
I definitely have Hashis - TPO ABs were over 1000 when I had them checked a couple of months ago. Hopefully as I get optimized on Armour they'll come down as they're supposed to, but once you have them... you know. Screwed for life. I actually slept better last night WITH the 1/8 grain Armour increase at bed-time (yay, I'm finally at 2 grains) than I did the night before, despite the stomach ache that I had all day and went to bed with. 1/2 an apple and about that much nutbutter is exactly what I had the night before last. Last night I had a piece of organic turkey and a couple of pieces of pineapple. Neither was easy on my stomach, but I don't blame the snacks. I didn't take any of my vits today, except for the D which I take 3x/week, and the chromium blend that he sold me that also has mag, vit c and some other stuff in it. I didn't take it with a big meal - I took it with a protein shake that I had for breakfast and I have been feeling hypogly all day. I also read that it can cause some GI upset - probably if you don't eat enough with it. I guess that I'll knock off the day time chromium too, but what about the night-time dose - he gave it to me in response to my complaints about waking up in the middle of the night, saying that it should help to level out BS over-night. Maybe take it with dinner then? I'm guessing that the mag is OK too, but I want to get the powder or the caps, not these ridiculous horse pills. I'm going to leave out the adaptogen for a while until I get back to baseline GI discomfort instead of the enhanced version of the last few nights. Do you, or especially DH notice yourselves sweating after you eat fairly often? > > P.S. DH woke again last night at 5 a.m., so this sleep stuff is hit or > miss. Guest guest
I am to take mine in the AM but who knows whether it was affecting my sleep or not. Too many changes at once. Dialing back everything except for the Armour and HC and my sea salt and starting over one at a time. > > In took a new adaptagen I ordered from Vitacost, took one with supper, and had a much harder time falling asleep last night. Maybe take it with dinner > then? Chromium is good for those with pre-diabetes--too high blood sugar after a meal. Before going the insulin route, you try chromium because it helps lower your blood sugar and pushes the glucose to your cells, the way insulin should. DH takes a 200 mg chromium with breakfast, cause he can't part with his carby oatmeal (says it keeps him regular, another problem hypos have). He also takes another 200 mg chromium with dinner, in addition to a gymnema sylvestre (another herb that's supposed to help regenerate the beta cells in your pancreas if that's your problem). I don't KNOW if we have that problem, but it doesn't seem to hurt. And I like a nice dinner with SOME carbs like a little bit of potato, rice, or pasta, now that we're both better and not eating every two hours! >I'm guessing that the mag is OK too, but I want to get the > powder or the caps, not these ridiculous horse pills. Magnesium is supposed to be a muscle relaxer, so is supposed to help you sleep. I hear ya about the horse pills. Got a food processor? > Do you, or especially DH notice yourselves sweating after you eat > fairly often? No, only if we eat Mexican, Thai, or Szechuan and it's extra hot LOL! I know when you eat it's supposed to raise your cortisol, so that means your adrenals are trying to pump some out when they recognize incoming food. Wonder if that's the cause? Guest guest
Massages ARE detoxifying, especially in the lymphatic system if you had a good one, and you have to drink extra water and rest on those days. At least when I had them I was always told that. I definitely felt different the day of the massage. That said, some of it can also be what you are taking like the supplements.
