Guest guest
Frannie, Yes, that is why I am going to use it. I am mercury toxic and I think that is partly why my current kombu helps my thyroid and other issues because in addition to the iodine I need it chelates out some mercury. The first time I bought it I was suffering from a really bad respiratory and throat infection where I completely lost my voice. I think part of it was also due to toxic mold exposure. Anyway, I kept getting sicker and could not shake it but didn't have medical insurance. The day my kombu arrived I ate a bunch of big strips. This was two weeks into the infection and I was bed ridden most of the day. Well, my voice came back within 24 hours and after a few days, the infection was completely gone. So, I think it works for a lot more than thyroid and mercury poisoning. It also contains sea minerals which help the adrenals. I first learned of it from a conversation with my neurologist that led me to do some research and end up with kombu. In WWII when the US bombed the Japanese in Hiroshima, there were incidences of hospital staffs taking large quantities of kombu and they did not suffer the radiation poisoning that others died of. I found out that kombu has been the only thing proven to chelate Strontium 90 which is a radioactive isotope and one of the worst ones humans can be exposed to. I have had the two worst exposures! Strontium 90 uptakes in the body like calcium and goes into the bones because the body thinks it is calcium. I have had a lot of radiation exposure so that is partly why I got it. The added benefits I just discovered by accident and then it turns out a lot of other people have discovered it too. I have talked to some war vets that are using it to get uranium and other things out of their bodies and they say it seems to help. I am not sure if the pill form (Modifilan) will work or if I will need more of a quantity (they are supposed to be concentrated) but I am going to give it a try to help with my mercury until I can get my teeth fixed. All the other chelating agents I cannot use while the mercury is still in the mouth so if this works it will be a great interim solution. I cannot praise kombu enough. It is pretty bland tasting but cooking it with foods you really don't taste it all. If you get kombu, make sure it is kombu and not kelp. Kombu is dark brown when held up to light and kelp is green. They tend to use the terms interchangeably when marketing kelp. Kelp is good but kombu is much, much better. The official name is Laminaria japonica. Cheri -----Original Message----- Thanks so much for that explanation. I thought the Kombucha was fungal in nature. I don't need that either. So scratch that question. I have heard of Modifilin being very good for Mercury detox, which I have also been diagnosed with. Frannie .
Guest guest
Cheri, It is not fun having metal exposures, but I think that may be what started my endocrine issues. I had 13 Amalgams, and became deathly ill from chelation when they were still in. Duh! Doctor. I have since had my fillings removed, but I think the chelation pulled it into the tissues. I know of a gentleman on the mercury list I have been on for years who said the Modinfilin really helped him. I just found a jar in the supplement stash I haven't tried so I will try that before I go on the Kombu search. It suggest taking it in the morning, wondering why? Do you think Strontium is in the RAI Cocktail they give to treat Graves Disease? I have also had numerous x-rays. This is great information. Thanks so much.
