Guest guest
What is mitochondrial dysfunction ? I've heard doctors mention it regarding my son.Sent from my iPhone Hello, hope everyone's doing well. My son is going to be five on Thursday. He had a muscle biopsy on September and came positive for mitochondrial dysfunction . Right now I'm so lost, he has asthma, lactic acidosis, pre-diabetes, underweight and of course autism. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I don't know were to start from, and the doctor don't seem to start a plan for him. Thanks in advance . Guest guest
Dr. Dan Rossignol, who has an office in Melbourne FL, has done a ton of research on MD and Autism. He would be the first person I called. His # is Mitochondrial dysfunction Hello, hope everyone's doing well. My son is going to be five on Thursday. Guest guest
Your cells have organs. These are called " organelles " , that live in the cell body (the suburbs of the cell) rather than the nucleus where most DNA is (the city of the cell). One organelle is the mitochondrion (plural mitochondria). They have a separate DNA that is inherited only from the mother, so anthropologists find them useful to track human migrations (mitochondrial DNA). They are the factories that convert chemicals from one to the other to make the fuel that run all the processes in the body, control growth and cell death, and may be responsible for the aging process. This is where cyanide works when it poisons the body--it stops mitochondria from working. When you say you are going to have something to eat to fuel your body, the glucose and other things go to the mitochondria where they are converted to the actual fuel of the body, ATP. .. Mitochondria have thousands of functions to perform. If the DNA or enzymes of the mitochondria are defective, there is usually a disease. This is a mitochondrial dysfunction. The study of mitochondrial dysfunctions is a fairly esoteric field. Not the first thought in the mind of a family doc (or third or fourth). Most of this stuff is research level, metabolic or biochemical departments of major universities would be who to talk to. Hope this helps. > > What is mitochondrial dysfunction ?
