Guest guest
A very timely post considering my last post was questioning high blood pressure medications. I wonder how much calcium and magnesium is require to get the desired effect? Guest guest
Lori, Be sure to completely research every thing about your calcium channel blocker before adding the calcium and magnesium. When I first got my Altace, I went online and found not only the manufactures sites, and all necessary information, but even online bulletin boards, of other users and their experiences. I found with my Altace, because of the way it works, I must be careful to avoid extra potassium, one of the supplements we normally think of for high blood pressure. I also found it takes three weeks to work. This turned out to be true. And the insomnia it caused in the beginning, is a normal symptom and it does go away. Without my extensive search, I would have been really freaked out that something was amiss, but I stuck it out, and for me, the Altace is a miracle. It just took time and patience. You said : I started on Altace last year, the day before my thyroid storm that sent me to the hospital with an arrhythmia and a pulse of 260! First they thought that I had an allergic reaction to the Altace because I had a rash....the doctor on call that day took one look at me and ordered thyroid labs...the cardiologist was still saying it was a drug reaction...so they had a heated argument over that and of course in the end the doctor on call was correct. But they still told me to say that I may be allergic to ramapril(Altace)when asked if I am allergic to drugs. ************* Well, for crying out loud ! What kind of a doctor did you see shortly before the storm, that did NOT notice that you were HYPER and then gave you a heart medicine that takes three weeks to work !!! So when you had the storm, the whole thing was avoidable. Remember rashes are Graves' symptoms for some of us. You may happen to be allergic to Altace, but this story really shows what poor medical care you were receiving at the time, so it is hard to totally trust anything they said, in my opinion. ************** I wonder if I would have to wien myself off of the Adalat before starting an ACE Inhibitor? The crazy internist said something about slowly withdrawing the Adalat before starting another drug. Hummm... ************** This may be a BIG part of the story too. Again, if I were you I would go online and start searching. Then you will have a better idea of what to ask at your next appointment. As far as my story with high BP. It seems my BP goes way UP when I am either hypo or hyper. So getting labs for thyroid every four weeks, and INSISTING on being at my own personal set point, is a BIG thing for me. This is a big part of the reason that now, even though I am finally in remission, and my numbers are within the normal range, I am a bit to low for ME, and am thus now taking a teeny tiny bit of Synthroid, just to keep things exactly where I feel best. It took a long time to narrow in on my 'set point', about 3 years , to be exact, but now that I know where it is, I refuse to vary. But.. it turns out I still do need to be on the Altace. My guess is that after so very many years undiagnosed with my Graves', my heart was hangin in there. But then my stupid endo kept me too hypo ( which caused plaque build up in the arteries ) those first three years on ATDs and in my opinion, that may have been the straw that broke the camels back...so now I am faced with possibly paying for Altace for the rest of my life. Hope I'm wrong. He kept insisting we did NOT want to treat the high BP because it was a symptom of hyper and we needed to see the symptoms to adjust my ATD dose. Come to find out, high BP happens with hypo too. So having an endo that is charming, with a wonderful bedside manner, and trusting him, because we see on the Internet, how finding one that treats symptoms and not just numbers is so wonderful...Grrrr ! Big mistake ! I had various stages of hypo...not hypo and hyper as he had me convinced was happening. So ...Everybody...get copies of your labs and pay attention. It is going to be up to you to find your own set point, and insist on staying there, *after you are stable, and have had time to get close to right.* -Pam L-
Guest guest
You know, I've replayed this part of my life last year so much. The clinic where my GP practices in also has walk-ins. Each dr takes turns doing the walk-ins. After having a mild arrhythmia (I didn't know what it was at the time, just that my heart was racing and I couldn't breath well), I saw the dr in the walk-in. He took my bp and found it to be 200/100, gave me Altace and said to come back in a week or two to get it checked. Never once said to stay home from work or take it easy, etc. Within 24 hours, I broke out in a rash, went back there...it was the same dr in the walk-in. He checked my bp and it was about the same, and wrote me out a prescription for another bp med saying it was an allergic reation..and sent me home. Within an hour of leaving the clinic, I went into full arrhythmia(again not knowing that was what it was)..went back to the clinic. This time, my GP was doing the walk-ins...she immediately did an EKG(I always get those things mixed up..the one where they put stickies on your chest, hook you up the monitor and get your heart rhythm, etc). Told me to get to the hospital so they could give me a drug to slow down my heart rate. So here I am..not being told how serious my condition was..I picked my son up from soccer practice, took him home, told my husband to take our daughter to her soccer game and I DROVE MYSELF TO EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart rate was 260 by the time I got hooked up to the machines there. They looked at me when I walked into emergency and said, " where's the ambulance? You drove here? " And no, no one even mentioned hyper, thyroid or any of those things until the dr on call looked at me and said, " IT'S HER THYROID! " Hats off to him, I may have been sent home thinking I had an allergic reation to Altace!!!!!! On that note, I will say a prayer that I am still alive today! Guest guest
Hi Barbara, Try regular use of high doses of Vitamin C, I know it works for my DH who is only youngish, he always said it was an inherited thing, he's just had amalgams out so that is the next step if you haven't done that already (The safe way of course). na -- In frequent-dose-chelation , " BJBURYCATS " wrote: > > Hi > > How does mercury cause high blood pressure and what supplements can be > taken to help? > > I refuse to take high blood pressure medications. Guest guest
I had my blood pressure checked about a month ago and it was high, then had it checked today, and it is still high. I wonder if chelation can do this. I work at a health clinic and now I have people hounding me to see my doc about it. I don't want to be put on meds, so I want to see what is the source of this high blood pressure. I wonder if it could be chelation or any of the many supplements that I take. Any ideas, suggestions? Was it checked by a doctor or on one of those machines (like they have in drug stores)? Mercury can certainly cause high blood pressure. Do you have high cysteine? High blood pressure can go with that. I don't know what supplements might possibly contribute to causing or worsening this - you might have to figure out likely candidates and drop them one at a time. Supplements Andy suggests to help are listed on p. 137. --

Maybe I should go to my doctor, although he has no knowledge about Cutler. I'm on so many supplements, I guess it would be hard to figure out. Plus, there is a mind-body connection, with tension and stress elevatingblood pressure. That's what makes all this difficult, cause it leaves out human emotions. >
Guest guest
> > I have no idea if it was high before chelation. When you say that you have high blood pressure, how high was it? What were the actual numbers. >I have no idea what > cysteine is. Cysteine is a sulfur containing amino acid. In some mercury poisoned people the levels build up and those people usually have trouble tolerating high sulfur containing foods. The only way to test yourself is to try excluding sulfur foods from your diet for a period of time and then challenging by eating lots of sulfur foods and see if you get symptoms. If interested see relevant sections of " Amalgam Illness " and look through the " Andy Index " . >Maybe I should go to my doctor, although he has no > knowledge about Cutler. If you are concerned about high blood pressure it would make sense to talk it over with your doctor. Sometimes they will order a 24 h monitor to see what the blood pressure is over a long period of time. Blood pressure often goes up simply from going into a doctor's office and that is why they will often leave the person lying in the examining room for a period of time before testing BP. If your BP is high it would also make sense to obtain several opinions before medicating. Many doctors are too quick to medicate when the BP could be controlled by diet and supplements. Your doctor doesn't need knowledge about Cutler or mercury poisoning to monitor your BP. If you go in and start talking about MP your BP might go up, and his might go up too!
