Guest guest
Hi Beverly, I was 10 pounds from goal weight when I got pregnant with my son. I got down to 152 (2 pounds from goal) in the beginning of my pregnancy, and the day I had him I weighed 167. As of this morning I weighed 146 (which I reached about 5 days ago...just maintaining right now). My son was only born on July 5th. I am nursing right now, so that is probably helping with the weight loss. Needless to say, all of my 12's fit me great, and at least half are loose on my, which is even better. If you eat healthy and take care of yourself, I wouldn't be concerned about losing weight after the baby is born. I would only be concerned if you make poor food choices on a frequent basis. Good luck to you and your hubby on conceiving, and congrats on the weight loss! I would have baseline lab work done stat and supplement vits and minerals as needed. (calcium citrate, ferrous fumerate etc). This is my own opinion and observation.... Guest guest
I've been a member for a while now and I try to keep up with all the mssages. I've noticed that more recently the ladies of the group have been having complications. Although I did get become pregnant at 8 months post op (planned), I highly recommend waiting until you are at goal and at least 18-24 months post op. I'm 29 weeks and have been having a lot of problems. It's totally individual, but if I would have done it over I know I would have waited. Good luck with everything. Guest guest
Hi a!!! I just wanted to welcome you to the group. Congratulations on your weight loss and your pregnancy. I hope that you find the support that you are looking for. The members of this group are amazing. Hugs, 11-21-01 324/170 Sierra 8-14-98 EDD #2 3-28-04 new here I just wanted to say hello and ask a question or two. I'm 8 months out from RNY and down 120 lbs or so. We were recently surprised with the news that we're expecting our first. Though being so early, I'm very cautious and not counting on anything till it's here I guess. Which brings me to a question. I've noticed this group in particular seems to have a lot of loss (which utterly breaks my heart for those going through it -- I'm so very very sorry . Is it more common within the post wls community to see more m/c than in the general population? I know doctors claim again and again that having babies post op is just the same as pre op. But it troubles me to see so many within the wls groups that I belong to. I'm afraid that maybe I've done the wrong thing here and should have been even more careful than I was being as far as birth control went. My mind is spinning with what if's instead of being genuinely excited. Maybe I need some reassurance or something... I'm emotional as it is and find myself very upset for those that aren't having the best time w/ this. ;( My heart aches for you all and my prayers are with you. Bless you all no matter where you're at in this journey! E

Guest guest
it could be any number of factors... I think if you were part of a non wls surg pregnancy post group you would see a lot of similar stories about loss...I dont know maybe it does have to do with our bodies being in starvation mode or lack of vitamins but I wouldnt freak yourself out about it...the problem is Miscarriage is more common than we all thought or ever had access to until we joined a group that focused on pregnancy!! Although I am convinced that there is a computer virus infecting all of us so be very careful lol! Mindy
Guest guest
I don't think there is any more loss here than anywhere else, or with any " normal " group. We just had our share recently... Don't worry... worry makes it worse!! I just got put on bedrest, so... gahh...!! How far along are you? Guest guest
Not usre on the calorie stufdf but I know you need to eat a healthy balanced diet. I don't think the calaries are an issue, it is the nutrition in the food you eat. I want to congratulate you on your pregnancy and wish you the best of luck. Guest guest
Yes, the test I had was called the 2hr Post Prandial blood glucose test. (maybe it was 1 hour? My pg brain is not so good.) I went in for a fasting blood sugar first thing in the morning, then went away for a normal breakfast, then came back at the correct number of hours to get re-tested. My doctor says it is not as accurate as the usual " glucola " test that most pg women do, but it is a good enough alternative. Lynn Baby #4 due 12-3-03 > Hello! Guest guest
Hi Diane, There is no way you can do the Gluecose tolerance test with the drinking of " Glucola. " It contains 50 grams of sugar. I, as well as many woman here did fasting tests. You will not be able to tolerate that amount of sugar at all. It gets me sick just thinking about it! Guest guest
Bonnie ~ thanks for your warm welcome! Well, I've never heard of the larygomalacia, but will add that to the things to read. Our family too has many symptoms from several different types of EDS. Interesting most of all to me that my cousin had a lung collapse several years ago for " no apparent reason " ~ did read that along with other stuff about the vascular type... that runs in our family, but also some other characteristics from the other kinds also. Will be interesting to see what the genetic team thinks about all this. The other " issues " we have running in our family: mitrovalve prolapse, gum disease for my aunts (all needed false teeth by 19 or 20!!), marfan qualities (cousins and aunt have been labelled with Marfan's), inner eye folds, hyperflexibility for all of us to the point we entertained class mates and family members often, our hernias, low muscle tone, scarring problems, the nodules on the inner side of the heel, scoliosis, ... Both of our kids are in speech therapy. I would be glad to help with your survey (but we don't have official diagnosis yet if that matters). I know some of their issues were caused by the chiari and the ICP created from their cranio. Things are much improved for both of them, but still have some headway to be made. I look forward to reading more here and getting to know more of you here. Thanks Kaci King Ohio, USA > My daughter, , age 15.5 and I have a Variant of EDS.... we have symptoms from several different types of EDS. > > Anyone have larygomalacia in your family? > > I am a speech language pathologist and am doing a survey on EDS and speech/language/voice/hearing/articulation/swallowing issues... > > If you'd like to participate, I can send you the survey off list as an attachment. > > Bonnie Heintskill > Milwaukee Wisconsin area, USA > > >
Guest guest
Hi Kaci, I'm Cindy C, also know as Cindylouwho. My family has type 3. There are others on the group with Chiari. The Chiari Institute has 70 Chiari/EDSers now. Looks like there could be a connection. Most EDS is DX by family history and a physical, but a couple types can be tested with a skin Biopsy. Got questions? Ask away, we'll try to help! Welcome to our group. Cindylouwho new here Well, I'm new to the EDS arena, although the symptoms and issues have been very familiar to my family as long as any of us can remember.
