Esther,

I think you are right. Humans are creatures of habit... and if the

employee serves hot dogs with buns to hundreds of customers and then

someone comes along and wants one without a bun, you may end up

getting the " do you have 3 heads? " look.

Bridget,

I also think you are right. Sometimes the employee seems confused

and is probably wondering " HOW " is this person going to eat this

item with a bread product to grip onto it? I think our local McD's

and Burger King are used to our orders now... (and BK does make

it " esasier " to order b/c when you order Low-Carb, they always get

it right)..... But sometimes we get a plain burger in a cardboard

McNugget box, sometimes they put it in a plastic salad container,

sometimes they try to put it on a piece of lettuce and garnish it

the best they can, sometimes they remember to give you a fork/knife

packet, sometimes they offer a packet of salad dressing to go along

with it, etc. I think they wonder... how is this person going to

eat this bunless burger or bunless hot dog?

Sometimes it also comes down to how the cashier enters the info into

the computer....... I think at McD's they even have a key on the

register that says " Ask me " so that the cooks in the back will have

to ask the cashier for details. Sometimes they key it in as " Minus

All, " Sometimes they key it in as " no bun, " sometimes it appears

as " Meat Only, " and then I've seen it pop up as " Lo Carb " . Once, I

had a cashier enter our hamburger happy meal as " NO ICE " and that

was the " code " at this particular McD's to get the burger without

the bun. I even asked him about it.... and he said their registers

were old and that was the only key they had available, so they made

it to stand for " no bun. " Odd, huh?
