In several months, my family and I will be moving to Broward County from Bedford, NH. I have 13 year old triplets in eighth grade, one of whom, Jerad, will be an ESE student due to CP, low vision, and cognitive delays. Jerad is a very determined and motivated kid who has surprised his teachers and providers every step of the way. He was told he’ll probably never walk but is now ambulatory and plays adaptive soccer. He was told he probably wouldn’t talk, said his first words at age 3, and now is sometimes hard to shut up J Diagnosed by the Perkins School for the Blind as legally blind less than 5 years ago, his vision has been consistently improving, and his near vision visual acuity recently tested at 20/30. His multiple disabilities and somewhat unique history is responsible for unique learning patterns that defy ‘textbook’ solutions. He would greatly benefit from special education teachers who are flexible and able to find creative solutions. He currently spends most of his time in special education, but does some gen-ed classwork, as well. I was wondering if anyone would care to recommend any particular school or schools in Broward that they believe would best suit Jerad and offer him the best chance to thrive. Thanks in advance!Rich
