Guest guest
Hello everyone!!!! Happy Holidays.... Can someone recommend a place in Miami to get chewing tubes. Or a website. They are very expensive. I just got a pack of four on Amazon. Thanks everyone. On another note. My son for the past two weeks has become so aggressive that it breaks my heart, sometimes for no apparent reason. He is kicking, biting, scratching, and banging his head against the wall. He is a loving child and I am having a hard time dealing with this. Can anyone offer advice as to how to handle this behavior? Thanks again everyone!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
A less expensive alternative for chewing is aquarium tubing. We made necklaces for our son with it. It We were able to buy it by the foot from an aquarium store but the bigger stores may have it pre-packaged. Of course, that was before I knew about phthalates (sp?) and BPA in plastics... the tubing probably contains it. I hope you find chewy tubes that are BPA free. About the behavior: in addition to my sincere sympathy I can only suggest that you look into vitamin/mineral deficiency. I know a couple of kids, including my own who benefitted from Zinc because their copper:zinc ratios were out of balance- a lot of challenging behavior cleared out after a while. You might want to look at removing anything artificial, gluten, casein and maybe salicylates from his diet. (www.feingold.org) You might also ask a doctor to check hormones, too. I'm sure you have already looked at the last month or so to see what diet or environmental changes have occurred that might have thrown him. My son acts out when I get stressed out... like over the holidays, travel, etc. and its been worse with the holiday junk food and even too many "healthy" treats. My favorite thing right now is allergy clearing with NAET or NSRT (cold laser version). My son is really benefitting... and it seems that since doing these treatments the environental stressors aren't as bad and they are easier to spot. I wish you and your family peace and the best of luck. Hello everyone!!!! Happy Holidays.... Can someone recommend a place in Miami to get chewing tubes. Or a website. They are very expensive. Guest guest
The chewing problem is Pica. This is a zinc and iron deficiency. Chlorophyll can be used to boost iron levels without being constipating. Both zinc and chlorophyll come in a liquid (Vitamin Shoppe) Also a good probiotic for the GI tract because of the malabsorption. Liquid trace minerals will also help mineralize the body to stop the pica (Colloidal Minerals and Fulvic Acid by NOW) I feel a bit naive... What are chewing tubes? Guest guest
Hello Jean, No worries. My son chews holes in his shirts as well. When we started using the chewy tubes it helped a lot. Chewy tubes are basically rubber chewy things. I got mine in Amazon. Type in chewy tubes and they will pop up. Hope it helps. Yesenia I feel a bit naive... What are chewing tubes? Guest guest
Therapro is an online catalog for therapy equipment. I can't say anything about the prices because I haven't shopped around. Here is a link to the "oral motor" page. Click on the category to get more info. http://www.therapro.com/Oral-Motor-C6165.aspx I hope this helps. I feel a bit naive... What are chewing tubes? Guest guest
Yesenia,As a parent of an older child I know we tend to think aggressiveness is the ASD but very often it could be medical. I don't know how old your child is but when my son was about 6 and again around 12 he got very aggressive and self injurious (biting his arms and head banging). It turned out to be he had teeth coming in. He was teething! It has also happened when he's had ear infections. Our kids often can't tell us what hurts - even when they are verbal. Just a thought.Sent from my iPhone Please forgive typos. Therapro is an online catalog for therapy equipment. I can't say anything about the prices because I haven't shopped around.
