Guest guest
Can someone tell me how to apply for McKay once you have a child in private school because technically they no longer have an IEP. Thanks
Guest guest
Unfortunately, I believe once a student is no longer in a public school, they are no longer qualified for McKay. The qualifications are simple: One year in a public school Have an IEP A McKay School pre-accepts the student If you pull a student out of a public school to homeschool, move, private school, etc they are no longer eligible. If you put the student back into a public school they need to stay enrolled for one year in order to be re-qualified. Sorry, I don't make the rules, but I have and will try to change them Steve > > Can someone tell me how to apply for McKay once you have a child in private school because technically they no longer have an IEP. > Thanks >
Guest guest
From what I have read, your child has to be in the public school system for one year with an IEP to qualify. If I child has been in private school or homeschooled, they can't apply until they have been back in public school for one year.

Guest guest
So, then my daughter can no longer get McKay? Don't kids get McKay year after year? Basically, she was in public school for kindergarten then we applied for McKay and use that for her private school now...she is in first. I guess what I'm asking is shouldn't we be able to keep getting it or is it a one time thing? Thanks:) > > From what I have read, your child has to be in the public school system for one year with an IEP to qualify. Guest guest
Yes you can keep getting it! You do have timelines have to follow for each years enrollment. You should be able to get all this info at the school choice website.KathySent from my iPhone So, then my daughter can no longer get McKay? Don't kids get McKay year after year? Guest guest
If she currently has McKay she would be able to continue provided you are still at a McKay school or didn't stop going to the McKay school Sent from my iPad > So, then my daughter can no longer get McKay? Guest guest
Thanks, that was what I was wondering...she is still at the McKay school, there has been no lapse. I guess I wasn't being clear in my original question. Thanks Again:) From: catscratch25@... ; To: sList <sList >; Subject: Re: Re: McKay question? Guest guest
My apologies for misunderstanding your question. I thought your child was in a private school and wanted to apply for McKay. As others have said, continuation is easy and the school where you are enrolled should be able to do everything but sign the papers for you in order to continue, suggest you check with them. Guest guest
On the Broward Schools website's ESE page you will see a link for info about the McKay. Also, there is a scrolling area that contains the phone number for Ligas. She would be able to answer your questions. So, then my daughter can no longer get McKay?
