Guest guest
Has anyone else had the SCM surgery performed on their child, requiring a neck collar and still kept wearing the helmet? Our son was born with both plagio and torticollis. The torticollis is so severe that even with P.T. since the 3rd week of his life and we even did botox at 7 months to relax the muscle, it required surgery; he is now 11 months old. We started the helmet at 5 months, and have seen some improvement but are planning on another 2-3 months (at least). He has a Philadelphia Collar to keep his neck in the position to stretch the muscle as it heals for at least 3 weeks, and maybe as long a 6 weeks. In the meantime, the helmet and collar conflict enough to push the helmet and leave red marks that persist for hours. Any tips from anyone who has gone through both?
