Guest guest
Thanks Nick for the quick and thorough reply. You said: " On just 50 of T4 your own thyroid will still be producing T4 as well and this will be influenced by the speed you increase T3 at. " 1. So does that mean that since I am only taking a small dose of Synthroid, (which I convert fine to high-normal FT3) that means my thyroid is still producing its own T4, and the faster i add T3, the faster it will stop producing its own T4? 2. Then will the T3 TOTALLY shut down my thyroid---and will my thyroid ever come back and work okay at converting again after I suppress it from working for all those months on T3? (I guess what I'm asking is since my thyroid is in somewhat good shape will it stop being able to produce T4 and convert on its own again, and I'll always now be dependant totally on drugs to make all my thyroid?) 3. Do I take that small dose of T3 you suggested 4 times a day? Even with this high of a RT3, I don't have any hypo symptoms except temps in the mid 90s---I feel great, with good energy all day, sleep like a rock, happy hair and nails, no weight probs, etc...I got the RT3 from a cortisone shot that went systemic 2 years ago, and I went into adrenal crisis, but adrenals are okay now....and since I feel so good now, I am bummed at how crummy I will probably feel once I start this-- being so hyper-sensitive to any thyorid changes, but also feel encouraged that you think I won't feel a big change. Thank you ENORMOUSLY for all the help, time, and encouragement you and Val give to everyone! How do we thank you? With warmth, Kate > > >d am afraid of going right over to all T3 like you have in the " Getting Started " directions will be too much for me (even though there is still the decaying T4)---plus I'm a chicken when it comes to the scary health havoc I can go thru with any thyroid changes. > > the trick is to increase the T3 at the rate that the T4 decays. > > On just 50 of T4 your own thyroid will still be producing T4 as well > and this will be influenced my the speed you increase T3 at. > > you can chop the T4 in half and build part way up on T3 before doing > the other half but it may make it harder as you will need smaller > doses of T3. > > If you want to start gently then stop the T4 completely and leave it a > day or two until you feel a little more hypo before adding the first > few mcg of T3. > > If you are sensitive then you may need 5mcg tablets and split them in > half. > > I suspect that with your FT3/RT3 ratio and a dose of only 50 of T4 you > will notice no difference at all stopping the T4. > > Nick > > -- > > for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to > > www.thyroid-rt3.com >

Yes, adding external hormone lowers TSH which then takes away the " produce hormone " command to your own thyroid > >2. Do I take that small dose of T3 you suggested 4 times a day? the number of times a day depends on the state of your adrenals. between 4 and 6 times a day seems to work for most people > >Even with this high of a RT3, I don't have any hypo symptoms except temps in the mid 90s---I feel great, with good energy all day, sleep like a rock, happy hair and nails, no weight probs, etc...I got the RT3 from a cortisone shot that went systemic 2 years ago, and I went into adrenal crisis, but adrenals are okay now....and since I feel so good now, I am bummed at how crummy I will probably feel once I start this-- being so hyper-sensitive to any thyorid changes, but also feel encouraged that you think I won't feel a big change. > There is a reasonable chance that you MIGHT be able to taper off thyroid hormone at some stage after clearing RT3. If it was caused by the cortisol shot and your own thyroid works you might be able to start converting again and not need to stay on thyroid hormone. I present this as a possibility, it's not unheard of but it's unusual. >Thank you ENORMOUSLY for all the help, time, and encouragement you and Val give to everyone! >How do we thank you? >With warmth, Good luck in your journey, when I can respond depends on my job which is very variable in activity Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
