Guest guest
I got acutely mercury poisoned 2 years ago by a metal-based crown placed next to an amalgam. That tooth with the crown has been extracted. I have MS and I'm disabled as a result and I want to take the next step to getting better. I'm afraid that the amalgam removal will make me more sick and I can't take getting worse. How many should I have removed at once?

How many should > I have removed at once? > First, make sure that you have a very experienced mercury free dentist who uses all of the methods to protect you from exposures during removal. See www.IOAMT.org The more experienced and skilled the dentist is the safer removal will be for you. How many to remove at once is something that has to be decided between you and the dentist. Different people have different opinions (as is often the case). My opinion is that the more frail the health of the person, the slower the removal process should be. Try having one replaced and see how you feel. If that is ok, then perhaps one quadrant could be done after a sufficient rest and recovery period. I have MS and had the same concerns as you have. I had my amalgams removed one quadrant at a time spaced at about 1 month intervals. The worst quadrant was removed first, and I found that I felt much better with that one gone! I had vitamin C IVs during each removal and I felt that they were beneficial. Diet and supplement interventions will also most likely help to make you feel better and prevent worsening. Be sure to read Andy's " Amalgam Illness " book and avoid all the things that he says to avoid. J

Guest guest
Hi Jent, The most important thing is to have the removal done by someone specially trained to protect you from exposure during removal. Take a look at the IAOMT website for a list of dentists in your area. Make sure they are skilled at removal, including giving you oxygen so you're not breathing the environmental air. They usually do one quadrant at a time, but it depends on the dentist.
