I got the following email from a friend who had lived in Japan until a month ago. This really puts a personal spin on the tragedy, doesn't it?hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Hi, Thanks for the email. We are very thankful we are not in Japan right now although some parts of us really wish we could be there to help out however we could...if possible. The major city (about 1 million people) near our house was Sendai which is the main area affected by the earthquake. The prefecture (or State like in the USA) is called Miyagi. The entire Miyagi prefecture has a ton of damage along with several other prefectures along the East side of the country. We have been watching the news and it is so sad to see all the areas that used to be where we called home and the people we have grown to love and ministered to are going through so much devastation. We have several families we know that lived along the coast so we are very concerned for their lives due to the tsunamis. We have been able to get in touch with a few people but communication is very limited. Our pastor and his wife are currently missing. We have been in touch with their

daughter who is actually in England right now and she is trying every way she can to try to get a hold of them. We have a friend who recently moved to Tokyo and although they felt the earthquake it was nothing like up in Miyagi. Her family lives in Miyagi though and her hometown was completely wiped out by tsunamis and her parents house is completely gone. She fears the worse that her older brother and dad have been washed out to sea as they haven't seen or heard from them since everything hit. We had a Japanese youth pastor friend and his family we were very concerned about. My husband was good friends with him and their house was right on the coast. We just heard this morning that this entire family (mom, dad, and 3 kids) are all ok. Their house is destroyed and the entire city is underwater but they were able to make it to their church which is up on a hill. They have no water, gas, or electricity and minimal food but they said it is a miracle that

they are alive and at least in a standing, safe building...the church. Many neighbors who lost their homes are also coming to the church for refuge. We are getting ready to move from my parent's house to Chicago today but our hearts and minds are definitely not on moving. We can't get Japan and all our friends off our minds. Baileigh is very and concerned about her friends and wants to make sure they are ok. We have tried getting through to several other families but at this point have not been successful. Breanne

It is truly terrible. I watch the pictures on TV news and it's so hard to believe the degree of damage. hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
