Guest guest
My bottle says: Liothyronine, substitued for Cytomel. I'm assuming that would be generic? I took the Cynomel yesterday afternoon and again this a.m. since I had it. Last night I felt a little weird....like more anxious. I'm not sure what's up with that, except that normally my afternoon dose would be 5 mcg on the Liothyronine, and cutting the pill up yesterday it was more like 6.25 mcg instead. I took 1/2 a pill this a.m., 12.50 mcg, and felt ok. I WAS taking 30 mcg per day, but now with the new 25 mcg pills, it looks like I will be taking 31.25 mcg. I don't "think" that should be enough increase to worry about. Let me know what YOU do, Venezia! Subject: is lyothyronine the generic for cytomel???To: RT3_T3 Date: Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 3:07 PM I have a bottle of what I thought was Cytomel, it says cytomel on the bottle but underneath this it says Liothyronine. If this is generic it would explain SO much about how I have been feeling. Anyone have an answer for me before I call my pharmacist???Venizia
Guest guest
I think that is the generic. Call the pharmacist to be sure. I know the generic didn't work for me at all. Guest guest
ok, I spoke with my pharmacist and lyothyronine is the active ingredient in Cytomel. Cytomel is the brand name. He told me I was getting Cytomel even though both names were on the bottle. That makes me feel better. I can never absorb generics.VeniziaSubject: is lyothyronine the generic for cytomel???To: RT3_T3 Date: Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 10:07 AM I have a bottle of what I thought was Cytomel, it says cytomel on the bottle but underneath this it says Liothyronine. I can never absorb generics. The name Cytomel is used by the generic manufacturers as well as the original brand manufacturer. You need to ask the pharmacist who the manufacturer is, King is the one you want http://thyroid-rt3.com/which.htm There are 2 other manufacturers in the US Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
