Guest guest
Quoting targa66 : > what kind of licorice should one take in order to support adrenals? > de-glycyrhizinated or not? I have extremely low blood pressure so > I'm not concerned about it going up. Not! the Glycryhizzic acid is what makes the cortisol-prolonging effect work by inhibiting the breakdown enzyme (11b-hypodroxysteroid dehydrogenase). But that also is what might (drectly) give rise to the to the high BP and low potassium effects (it has effects on the mineralocoid receptors I think. It's probably an individual dose/tolerance thing with regard to BP and potassium - Val or other would know more - I've never used it, but perhaps should - Wikipedia llists it as useful in autoimmune disorders.. I'll have to hunt down the reference from the book " Adaptogens: Herbs for Strength, Stamina, and Stress Relief (Winston, Maimes 2007) " Jim
