Guest guest
>>>>nne, do you know the accuracy of the Pn testing? Carolyn, I think nne might have covered this, but I just wanted to say - it's a combination of things that leads to diagnosis. For example, had higher readings on the EMG testing than me, but I have really bad sit pain (in the butt) and she has no sit pain. She didn't have any pain with the exam, but I was somewhat tender in mainly one area...now compare that to nne. She had really high readings and pain with the exam and felt no other choice but surgery. My pain doc told me the other day I should have one of two kinds of surgery (decompression of the PN or radio-frequency)...but I'm not going to do either right now! He doesn't even believe in PN or the surgery for it... confused? His opinion does not change the direction I want to go. I asked him to continue working with me and lets try a few more nerve blocks in different areas. Again, it goes back to listening to your gut instincts! Doctors can make suggestions, but I still say you have to go with what you believe inside. Have you narrowed it down to what you think might be the problem? I know it's stressful and aggravating...but you will get there! Maybe you could sit down and make a list in black & white of your symptoms and then see what you come up with when you compare it to the possibilities. Guest guest
>>>>>Any ideas?? Carolyn, the burning with urination you experience may be due to perimenopause and 'may' not be the Pudendal Nerve at all. The other burning you described from the vagina down through the perineum does make me think nerve pain, but it may be that a nerve branch is being irritated but not 'entrapped'. Keep in mind I'm not a doctor.... You do have the leg discrepancy and that truly can cause problems. I personally think that 'structural' misalignment's can be a big cause of nerve pain. I cannot tell you what to do, but you asked my opinion....I would start with making sure I was aligned. If the pain reoccurs, then I would pursue other avenues. I will for sure be doing everything I can to get properly aligned and I will be going back to see Tom. I can't right now because of the bone spur, but when that is taken care of...alignment is 'major' on my list. If you haven't already, when Tom gets home try speaking with him on the phone. ~Chelle
Guest guest
Chelle, I think you are right on about how the structure of how the body is aligned such as if there is a shortened leg can cause the nerves to be problematic on the pain aspect. I went to see my podiatrist on Wed and he told me I had to wear orthotics. What I didn't know was that in the time from the time I saw him at the first visit to Wed he was having them made for me. Well, I got them on Wed afternoon (a story for another time on how the mess of confusion occurred) and I'm having a hard time adjusting but will keep trying. Funny thing is that after I slipped in to them and followed his specific instructions he noticed that my right hip ended up evening out with my left, and that my shoulders were even as well. I'm going to keep an eye now as well to see what it does for my pelvic area in that to see if it takes away the sensations that made the urogyn at Mayo Clinic ville in 2003 think I had pelvic floor muscle spasms. I don't know how long it's going to take to break these in but I will keep you posted. I go back to the podiatrist in 4 weeks (should be 3 but he's not going to be there the week that I would have been there as I ought to) so he can see how things are going and if they need to be readjusted and such. If the orthotics need to be readjusted they will send it back for readjustment. Right now I'm having issues with the arch part of the orthotic because I don't like the way it feels on my feet. The orthotic for the right side also includes a lift he told them to put on there. As I said I will let you know how this turns out and we'll see if this does anything for the scoliosis issue too.
