I think it is most often which band your ortho has the most experience

with. The starband has foam that is carved out to make room for growth

over time. The starlight is clear plastic and is heated and reshaped

to make room. I would think most orthos use one or the other since

they would need different equipment/techniques for the two. I think

the starband is more common. If you look at orthomerica.com they'll

tell you what they are used for, but from what I remember they are

about the same. My dd wore a starband for brachy (flat in back)
