Guest guest
How long are you in the neck brace for? I was in that damn thing from Feb to May, that sucks! How many levels did you have done? I had C4-7 fused with the metal plate. I set off metal detectors! Gonna be hell in an airport. Take a lot of calcium, if you can. Helps a great deal with the healing. Rhonda Re: New member In fact one week past, I underwent the last surgery I can have on my neck-a multi-level diskectomy with anterior plating! Hate this neck brace--yucky!! Guest guest
Becky: I do agree with you. I do not want a doctor to give me drugs that may have side effects that I am sensitive to such as palpitating and most doctors and pain specialists will start you on a minor drug with less side effects. I did not start with Oxycontin right away. I was tried on many less potent drugs. I also am educated and was a paralegal and worked in law for many years and think of myself as intelligent with common sense. But that didn't do anything to educate me as a pharmacist. Your pharmacist will be better in helping you understand your medications than your doctor. I have never had a doctor that even knew the side effects of drugs. And I am sure there have been some good doctors in there. What I also am saying is that we must take responsibility for what we take. We are all on the internet and there is a plethora of information here. Before I take any medication I never heard of or is very new, I always look it up on the internet before taking it. I also look them up for my mom and my sister. I am the researcher in the family. Andi << I appreciate your in-put. However, I still believe that doctors are supposed to stick to the code which tells them to give a drug w/lessor side or addictive effects before giving other drugs that may be addictive. Guest guest
I have heard on other groups many people complaining of even their clothes hurting or burning their skin. I think it is more common than you think. I went through a period where all my comfortable long t-shirts that I wear in the apt felt very uncomfortable as if it were burning my skin but, Melody, I am happy to say with all my problems that I only had that during a short period and it passed and I mainly have my back pain. Being undermedicated is the same as not having the proper medication and dosage. If you had better medication control, I bet those feelings would go away. I also can't walk. A cane doesn't help me get too far. I want to try to get a scooter from www.thescooterstore . com There are those of you that may be sick enough that you need this also. They promise that if Medicare doesn't pay, they will give it to you free. Who knows??? They advertise alot on cable and are in my area. I will keep you apprised of what happens with this. Andi << here's my two cents: my pain level is never under #7 on the pain scale. thats after meds. i am very under-medicated. my legs hurt so bad walking is severely limited. i hurt all over, my clothes hurt. feels like a sunburn, and burning pain to the bone. now this does come and go. its been with me for 4yrs now. we all are different. xoxoxooxo mel Melody>>

My guess is that the fine print is that your records have to have it well documented that it is needed in order for them to give it to you free, and in that case, Medicare might pay for it. When I went to get a scooter, my doctor wrote a prescription for one for me, but it didn't do much good. She told me ahead of time that she had never seen insurance pay for one unless the person was absolutely housebound without it. She turned out to be right. There just wasn't any way my insurance was going to pay for it. They wanted me to have tender point injections first. Now how is a tender point injection for pain going to help with fatigue when I'm not tired because I'm in pain? There was a bunch of other requirements too, so I just gave up and paid for it myself. At least having a prescription did keep us from having to pay tax on it or the lift. I wish you the best with this!! Darcy

Guest guest
Cindy, Hi, I haven't been a member here too long either but you have definately came to the right place. It's nice talking to others who understand when there's so many different things going on at once. I have many of the same symptoms that you have like GERD, Headaches(Tension, Sinus and Migrane), IBS, allergies and sleeping problems and many more. I also have Interstitial Cystitis(this is a bladder disease/condition that effects the bladder lining) which for some us goes with the IBS and Fibro like a sister disease or condition. If you have problems with your bladder you may want to speak to a urologist about this. I've heard some that get diagnosed early can get better results sooner before the condition gets worse. Some of the symptoms are bladder/urethral pain, irritation, frequency, urgency, burning when voiding, pain or cramps among others. I sure hope that you don't have this but if you're having problems it may be something you would want to check into. Take Care, My name is Cindy and I live very near Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Guest guest
Thanks for your warm welcome ! I do have some of those symptoms with my bladder. The frequency, urgency etc. I had an ultrasound done a few weeks ago on my pelvic area because of the severe cramps I was having. For this ultrasound you have to drink 5 glasses of water one hour before the test. They take the pictures and then you go to the bathroom, so they can take after pictures as well. They thought the pain was from a cyst or something but nothing was found. They actually found that after I went to the bathroom, that my bladder was still quite full. I am seeing an urologist on Monday. Have you or anyone else heard of anything like this? Hopefully I will get some answers! I also am going to see a surgeon for the gall stones in April and a gastro-endronogolist (spelling is way off! LOL) in May. I am currently taking Losec 20mg three times a day and Dicetel three times a day as well. And I am still having problems. I have pains in my abdomen, in my sides and lower in my intestines, I think. The pain is right above my legs on both sides. Who knows what that is? Thanks in advance and looking forward to getting to know you. Guest guest
, Do you have any other symptoms? Is this something that you have going on a regular basis? Do you know if you were checked for an infection? I have a bladder condition and was just curious.. Take Care, I had one episode of bloody urine, it filled the toilet--scared me too! I went to the DR, and they did the normal tests, and then I had an IVP--a test that lets them visualize the kidneys, bladder, ureters, etc, and they came back normal for the most part. I have a (genetically) abnormal shaped bladder is all they could find. That was at least 12 years ago. I was hospitalized for 2 weeks when I was 10 for the same thing, and they found nothing at that time also! I'd sure like to know what causes this! kmnewberry@... ===== Interstitial Cystitis Awareness Fibromyalgia Awareness Adult Adoptees Deserve Their Original Birth Certificates Adult Adoptees Deserve Current Medical Information GOD BLESS AMERICA! Guest guest
Irene, I agree I don't know why the double book like that..A friend of mine says they heard us in like cattle..They want to go in and say do this..take that..and move onto the next one.. No time to answer questions.. Quality is better than Quantity and if she keeps up that attitude..She'll be like my old doc (The one who didn't believe in Fibro)..With an empty parking lot which use to be packed..LOL Serves him right the way he treated many of his patients.. I wish I'd filed a compliant against him now but I was naive about the medical profession..and didn't think I had an re coarse.. Great idea about the nurse..Some of them can be more understanding than some of the Doctors.. Take Care, , I think that your doctor has gone bonkers. She seems to be the one that needs to see a doctor. There is no excuse for double booking all day. Of course that gives her stress but she should not be taking it out on you. She should know if she double books that it will be a long hard day. She sure must want to make a lot of money fast to do that. I would call her nurse. I hope that she is nicer than her doctor. Ask for her to get the paper work finished for you. Tell her that you need it and in a very polite way tell her that you need it as soon as possible as your office requires it. Most nurses are easier to get along with than the doctor. I call it " killing them with kindness. " :-)) Take care, Irene Books may well be the only true magic Alice Hoffman. ===== Interstitial Cystitis Awareness Fibromyalgia Awareness Adult Adoptees Deserve Their Original Birth Certificates Adult Adoptees Deserve Current Medical Information GOD BLESS AMERICA! Guest guest
Colonoscopy....... I have had a scope one done in the specialist office. I know I have two polyps that have to come out, should I be concerned of this, the Doc said we will have to keep an eye on them. Now what the hell do you think that is supposed to mean? I think that it means that you will be having another Colonoscopy in the near future. That is the only way that I can see to keep an eye on it. As for your eyes, have you had any eye exam recently? I think that I would if you have not done so. Take care, Irene Books may well be the only true magic Alice Hoffman.
Guest guest
Hi Cheryl: the supplement to stop carb cravings (sugar) is L-Glutamine. Ellie Re: Eyes.......blurred vision, I get at times. It will be like a fog on the eyeballs and at times my eyes will be sunk in and sore. Then like today I have eye pain like a sharp object tring to come out of the eye from behind the eye ball. We all have to remember the eye is also a muscle.....it too can swell. When mine does this, it is also very dry and helps to put artificial tears in them. I also wear eyeglasses. With my left eye having a slight vision loss, with no known help of returning vision by any means. I have heard there is a vitamen that helps in stopping the body crave sugars or sweet things. Does any one know what this vitamin is?
